muh-ha-ha-ha

Adler is the fourth grand baby on the Scott side of the family. yesterday she got to make pap-paw do something that so far in the past four years had dodged the bullet on doing...changing a poopy panty. ha ha ha. mam-maw was out in the yard doing some gardening and was dirty from top to bottom,daddy was in the shower, and mommy was away at work. so it was up to pap-paw to take care of it although he has boasted many a time that he would NOT do that. Well Adler was about ready to breach the limits of what a diaper could hold and before the mess literally exploded everywhere so he had to step up and change the diaper. the best part is when mommy got home last night and pap-paw was telling the story Adler started laughing. it was a riot that she was saying "ha ha got ya pap-paw." so the 4th in line got to be 1st at something.

talk-y, talk-y

this morning i was sleeping in the master bedroom with the door open and about 6:30a i heard miss Adler start talking. she was just having a hell of a conversation. she was jiggling her toys and kicking and flaying around shaking the whole bassinet. it was so very sweet listing to her i just laid there and soaked it all in till it went from a coo to a fuss then i got up to change and feed her.

peach fuzz

Adler was born with a minimum hair. shortly after getting home it fell out on top the only hair she was able to keep was the ring around the bottom. she looked like a little old grandpa. she is just now starting to grow some peach fuzz on top of that noggin of hers. i think she will be a light golden brown and not the dark brown like her sister. we will just have to wait and see though, who knows.

bff's

on Saturday Alder and and went to a baby shower. She got to meet her new best friend, Brecken. Brecken is only 5 weeks younger than Alder although technically Brecken should not be here yet, is was due this upcoming Thursday. Brecken slept almost the whole party and of course Alder was awake. she really was so very good and fussed very little, thank goodness. I did hold her up so she could see Brecken in her car seat and i introduced them and instantly Adler began to smile and coo and shove her hands in her mouth like she does when she is happy. it was almost like she really understood me and was happy to meet a new friend. or maybe it was the sight of another baby i don't know what it was but it sure was cute.

very proud

I am very proud of both Adler and myself. We have now made it more than 3 months solely breastfeeding. this is WAY longer than i ever made it with Rigby. knowing what i know now, if i would have kept trying Rigby might have gotten the hang of it eventually but i thought it was suppose to be natural and if it did not work in the beginning it would not ever work. plus it HURT, it hurt with both girls Adler almost ripped a nipple off, and that did not heal till i went back to work and pumped 3x a day. sad to say but the pumping machine is nicer to my nipples than my own kid. Adler has a voracious suck and can feed in 5-10 mins total when actually breastfeeding. when drinking the same milk out of a bottle she takes her sweet time and can take 20-30 mins to feed. i don't understand the difference but obviously she does have a preference. we still have a back log of frozen milk. we use it from time to time when mommy had drinks or if we have weeks like this one and the stress compounds and i am unable to pump a full bottle in a day.

Italian Fest - Adler

so we took Adler to her 1st carnival. she wont remember it but mommy will. thankfully there were 4 adults so someone was always on Adler duty and one was always on Rigby duty with 2 extra sets of free hands. there is no way we are ready for Disney or the like. Adler managed to have a poopy pant blow out and ruin an outfit. the down side to this is i could not find a changing table anywhere. so we lined up around the stroller and laid it as far back as we could. daddy handed me wipes and grandma held a garbage sack so i could dispose of everything as i got a section or body part clean. Adler was not fussing she actually very happy and content, wouldn't you if you just took a giant crap?!?!? HA HA. A little later in the day it was time to feed, mommy did not expect to be at the Fest this long so she did not bring a bottle but she always carries two boobies with her but again where was i going to find a place to sit and feed we had to take a trolly to get here so the car was not even with in walking distance. so i found a back stair well to hide out and face the wall as i was wearing a dress and tights so a lot of flesh had to be exposed. i really dont think that Adler likes to be fed with a blanket over her head so in order for the feeding to go smoothy and get over as soon as possible i just have to let my giant parts hang out in the wind. ugh.

Adler loves Rigby

Adler is very aware of Rigby now. She looks at her a lot and smiles and coo's at her. for the most part Rigby does not really notice. If we tell Rigby to give sister a kiss or say good morning she will. If i am holding Adler and Rigby wants my attention sometimes Rigby will love on Adler, other times she will almost try to push Adler out of the way so i can get up and do whatever it is that she wants me to do. this does not go over well with mommy and Rigby gets in trouble. I don't think they will really "like" each other till they become beneficial to each other, like someone to really play with.

tasty cakes

Adler is constantly putting one or both of her hands in her mouth. she will have one thumb in her mouth and sucking away and puts the other one up there to hold the 1st one. today while we were laying in bed talking after the early morning feeding she quickly offered me a taste of both of her hands by shoving them in my mouth. ha :)

90 degrees angle

Adler is so very close to rolling over. this morning she got so very mad/frustrated that she was able to push up on her shoulder so she was at a 90 degree angle just could not get it the rest of the way. she was on the master bed that is so fluffy that she was mostly sinking in so she did not have much leverage. i bet that she will have rolled over at least once if not multiple time by this time next week she is that close.

sleepy baby

we must be in a growth spurt as Adler has spent almost all day and all night asleep for the last two days. I know this is good for her and that the brain and body are both growing.

slobber-ific

Adler is a slobber box. Almost anyone that holds her these days ends up with wet shoulders. I guess that is better than getting pooped on - which she does as well. we have started to put bibs on her to try to soak it up so she is not always wearing wet clothes. i am hoping it is not teeth yet as i dread the pearly whites and breastfeeding that just seems like a very scary combination.

ditching the drugs

i was working on drinking a lot to help keep my milk supply up when i was strictly pumping when on the drugs, but it was not working. i could drink 3-4 glasses of water and only pump 2 oz. i know i read somewhere that the baby is what really triggers the milk release so i wanted to make sure that my supply did not dry up so i stopped taking the drugs. i was feeling better anyhow. it was more than 1/2 a day before i let Adler feed but that 1st pump right after Alder's feeding and i got a 6 oz bottle so i knew it had to do with the fact that I had stopped letting Adler feed. but we are back to our regular schedule and everything is fine.

pump and dump

mommy got that super nasty flu that is going around. luckily i got a prescription for that Tami-flu that is suppose to ward off the worst of the flu. i asked both the doctor and the pharmacist and they said that they did not know and to check with the other about breast feeding while on the drug. i ended up reading the literature and opted not to feed Adler while on drugs. the medicine CAN be passed on via breast milk but they DONT know the effects on the baby. So instead of risk it we are throwing out everything that i pump now and having her eat the stuff that is frozen from the first few weeks when supply outweighed demand. sad thing is when i try to feed her the bottle she pushes it out of her mouth and starts to nuzzle my bobby, as daddy says "she wants it straight from the tap." it breaks my heart to not be able to give her what she wants when it is the most natural thing between a mommy and baby.

bubbles

Adler can really blow some spit bubbles. she is now gotten to make herself a full bubbles beard. we have taken to putting a bib on her as the bubbles and drool are getting to be a lot and soaking the front of her outfits.

doing well

Adler seems to have had minimal side effects from her 1st round of shots. she defiantly has quarter sized bruises that are shades of purple on her thighs at the injection sights. the 1st day she had some Tylenol and had to be held and rocked almost the whole day. there was an hour there i guess she screamed absolute bloody murder and was very hard to comfort. eventually some rocking and cooing calmed her down but she could not be put down. after that 1st nap though she was in much better spirits and the night and next day went by with out a hitch.
