water gun play
(see Rigby's blog...) there were originally only three water guns so Adler was left out of the fun. Not sure how it progressed but some how she got her hands on a gun. i am sure she probably bullied one away from Ellie. she did not have the finger strength to pull the trigger. that was until she turned the gun to look down the barrel and squeezed with both hands. DARWIN-ISM!!!! so you know what happened next, right....she shot herself right in the face. then she just laughed and then went on to keep shooting herself in the face 'cause she thought it was so funny. my children love water, and i would not have it any other way. :)

little girl
Adler liked Ellie and Ellie liked Adler. they are about the same size although they are almost 6 months apart. Adler can even say Ellie's name. sounds like "L-E" but that is pretty close. Ellie is much more reserved and quite and basically shy and Adler is almost the opposite. So i think that hampered their playtime somewhat as Ellie is not use to loud, rambunctious, and pushy kids. I guess my girls are more like me than i realize. ha ha ha.

smile
Adler was almost as bad as Rigby during the whole picture taking process. she heard something about bubbles and she starting screaming and squirming for them. mam-maw has some little tubes that she eventually gave to the girls for a few smiles. all the screaming and crying left the girls red faced so hopefully they can edit that out. Meanwhile Ethan and Ellie just sat still and waiting for the girls to get over their fits before they all looked at the camera to smile. ugh!!!

we're back
I am sure you all know that we made the trek to Jacksonville, IL to see Jason's side of the family. as a whole it was a good trip. I will try to remember the highlights and post them up here this week. Adler did lovely on the flight there. she slept in daddy's arms on the 1st flight and again in mommy's arms on the second plane. so could not have wished for anything better when it came to traveling with her on the first leg of the trip.

middle of the night
sometimes it helps to actually listen to your husband. last night daddy told me that we will have to be LEAVING the house at 3:50a. WHAT!?!?!?!?! our flight leaves at 6am and some where along the line i thought we had to leave for the airport at 6am not fly out at that time. so i have told Rigby and Adler that tonight after baths we wont be putting on our jammies. We will be putting on our clothes for the airport as mommy will be waking them up in the middle of the night when it is still dark out to go to the airport. that we will be in the air before the sunrises. right now they are both really excited, but i am taking bets that enthusiasm is not present at 3:30a when we get up. ha ha. keep your fingers crosses that everything goes smoothly and we make all our flights. see all of our Illinois family and friends soon!!!!

big girl
I guess i have been bragging on Alder recently telling her that she is getting to be such a big girl. now she will repeat "big girl" over and over. I guess she likes the sound of that.

creepy-cold-fingers
i can only assume that Adler's fingers are always cold because they are normally in her mouth. these days she likes to surprise you with them. when you take a shower she reaches in under the shower curtain to grab your toes. talk about a heart stopper!!!!!!!! that one almost sent me though the ceiling the first time that happen. or when you are sitting at the table eating dinner or putting on your mascara all the sudden these cold tiny fingers start grabbing on your toes. that is creepy, but in the shower you are definitely a little more shocked by it, i promise you.

million dollar smile
Adler has almost all of her teeth. there are a few brewing right under the surface and getting ready to pop any moment. for the most part all the front ones that you see when she smiles are in. they are perfect too, not all wonky and spaced out like Rigby's. And for all the thumb sucking that girl does you would think that she would have the jacked up grill. i know these are the baby teeth so knowing our luck Rigby's second set will be perfect and Adler will be the one with braces for years. oh well Uncle Cole and i both lived though it so will she or more likely both of them.

pool time
We went to the neighbors for some pool time and dinner for Mother's Day. this time daddy called for Adler to get a ring like sissy. she did much better this time and was not always trying to make a break for it. the water was perfect and we all got in and splashed around and enjoyed ourselves.

if it is not one it is the other
Adler seemed a little warm to me last night but when i took her temperature it was only 99.8. the doctor has previously said that is not a fever. so i did not worry. I did however give her a shot of Tylenol before bed. I was awakened by screams of "mi-mi" at 2:30a. this annoys me as that is now how Adler references me as "mi-mi" instead of "mommy" (which she can say.) this irks me as her teachers name is Mi-Mi so there should be a distinction between the teacher and your mommy. I know it is just because they sounds similar, and i don't really make a fuss about it as she is not doing it intentionally. i do remind her it is said "MOMMY" but not at 2:30a in the morning. i got a bottle and was readying it to feed her but when i picked her up she was on FIRE. i took her temp and it was 102.9. i was kind of freaking out. of course she did not want the bottle she wanted mommy to hold her and make her better. i gave her a shot of Motrin and tried to rub a cool cloth on her but she was not having that. she kept screaming "ouch" like i was hurting her, not trying to cool her. i kept placing the cloth on her and you could see as soon as i would remove it, one possibly two seconds later that she would get instant goosebumps as she was soooo hot. almost an hour later she went to bed and this morning she was back to normal (or close) temperature, but she was still under the Motrin cover. I did give her a shot of Tylenol before sending her to school. i have yet to get a call so maybe the fever broke. she did have a little bit of a snotty nose but nothing bad and i have noticed two teeth close to the surface lately. so maybe it is all teeth related as her attitude was the same as always this morning.

leg lock
If Adler wants your attention these days, good or bad, she just grabs a leg. she will do this and it pretty much renders you immobile. in the beginning it was really cute, now it is just annoying. as she will hold on and you cant continue to move or do whatever it was you were trying to do before she latched on. last night she wanted something and i was trying to clean up the dinner mess. she had already been told no for whatever it was that she thought she needed. so she bear hugged on to one of my legs and then became dead weight and i could not continuing on with what i was doing until i dealt with her. this is not just a tool she uses to try to get what she wants. she also uses it when she wants to play. she thinks it is oh so funny and throws her head back and LAUGHS.

pee-pee on the potty
last night the girls were running around the house naked while i was filling up the tub. i did not see it but i heard Adler hit something against the wall right outside the bathroom door. i think she had her clothes in one hand and tripped/slipped and did a header into the wall. she was crying and carrying on but could not or would not tell/point to what hurt. so as Rigby got into the bath i snuggled Adler. when she finally got calmed down she wanted to sit on the big girl potty. so i got out the transitional seat and plopped her up there. she was a happy camper. as i don't really trust her too much on the potty i sat on the stool and held her so she felt supported. after quite a few minutes of this i was getting tired so i plopped her in the bath. she was NOT having that. so we did a super fast wash and dry. she was still talking potty, but i needed to wash Rigby so we sat her on the frog potty. this is a kiddy potty that sits on the floor that she can get on and off of. next thing i know she is shouting potty at me...i turn around and there is pee-pee in the potty. we cheered and clapped and made a big deal out of it, although i don't really expect it becoming main stream yet. later that evening daddy and I were watching a program and Adler just sat up on the couch next to daddy telling him over and over that she pee-peed on the potty like a big girl. she was SO VERY PROUD of herself. I was proud of her too!!!!!!!!!!

already?!?!??!
i guess i should not be surprised when Adler meets or exceeds a milestone ahead of schedule as she has always been the top of her class. lately thought i have been thinking the terrible-two's have set in. OMG. it is the little things, like full blown tantrums when she does not get what she wants. this morning she wanted her juice and it was on the dinning room table where she could not reach. she was "wa-wa-waa" whining for it. I told her to ask for it and i would happily get it for her. all she had to say is 'apple juice please' these are all words in her vernacular so i was not stepping outside the box. she was just being STUBBORN (like her father :) ) and stood there and would stare me down defiantly because she was not going to give in and ask for it nicely. she continued to whine. i continued to stand there and watch her and explain that if she asked for it nicely i would of course give it to her, but i was not succumbing to the crabbiness when she could easily use her words. after about a five minute stand off she gave in and asked nicely and i handed her the juice and a giant hug. this next year is going to be a long one if this is already starting. hopefully this is over very, VERY soon.

time out
Adler is starting to grasp the concept of time-out. maybe because these days she is spending a lot of time in the chair. she frequently gets time-out for biting, hitting, pulling hair, fighting or just plain being mean. at home at least i sit her in the time-out chair and tell her she in time-out and explain to her what is wrong about it, and then i have to normally sit and watch her so she does not get up. she does NOT like this but we are past the point of having to go though the routine of her getting up and me sitting her back in the chair. she gets it and says seated although she is normally viciously babbling (i assume cursing me) the whole time.

bat-like hearing
this morning Adler and i were up first. let's correct that, Adler was up first then made mommy get up. so we were getting settled in for breakfast. She was in her high chair by the dinning room table and started shouting "phone, phone." i had to listen hard and then very, very faintly i could hear the alarm on my cell phone go off. my cell phone was in the laundry room with the door shut and inside my pocketbook under a bunch of purse 'stuff.' like i said it was very faint but she heard it. although both the girls were tested at birth and were given a perfect bill of hearing i wonder sometimes. this mornings actions just show that her hearing is fine it is her listening that needs work. believe me she is not the only Scott girl that needs help in that department. :)
