happy birthday

This weekend we had Jimmy over for a few cocktails and give him a slightly belated birthday present. I told Rigby that Uncle Jimmy was going to come over and that she should practice singing "happy birthday" for him. so she sang it on an off afternoon, not always to Uncle Jimmy, mostly to Rigby, but whatever. When Jimmy did show up Rigby did an excellent job singing to him and afterwards we all clapped. well i guess Adler wanted in on the action and she piped up and shouted "happy birthday" and it was clear. so i guess she had listened to sister all afternoon and came out with a trick herself. so she will be all ready to shout it to Poppa this weekend.

you know it is Friday

I know it is Friday as one of my girls is sporting an ailment. UGH!! Adler has what looks like bug bites on her face again. This time to me they really do look like mosquito bites. she has one on her cheek and one on the other side of her face by her eye. i did kill 2 giant mosquitoes in my car so it is likely. i gave her a shot of benadryl and sent her to school with the warning that if there is even the slightest change to call me right away even if they just want me to come look at it. i don't want to show up tonight at 6p and her eye be swollen shut. keep your fingers crossed!!!

Rigby and i were chatting it up in the car on the way to school. we were ohh-ing and ahh-ing and laughing about nothing in particular. then Adler started mimicking us. it was so very cute. she wanted to be in on the conversation too. i love that kid!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............my Adler. There is always something with her. OMG. yesterday i got a call from the school that she had been scaling on the cubbie system and although REPEATEDLY told not to i guess the last time she waited just long enough for the teacher to turn her back and do it one more time. well of course that time she fell and whacked her head on the edge. it is just an ordinary bump nothing to be overly concerned with. i did go over to the school to see and check her out myself just to be sure. her eyes were still glittering with tears when i got there. i loved and hugged on her and reminded her to listen to her teachers when they tell her NO that she is to listen. i know telling a 1 year old that is futile, but i try.

bowl-o-jewlery

on one of our end tables i have a large wooden bowl. I use it to contain all the small toys and whatnot when i am picking up. This is just another container to try to harness the girls "stuff." Lately it houses a lot of jewelry that include necklaces, bracelets, rings and plastic watches. I think Adler likes this bowl of goodies more than Rigby. She will put on and take off necklaces and bracelet/anklets all day. This bowl of treats has kept my baby diva busy.

i upset her

I was just at the school checking on Rigby I overheard Adler getting scolded for biting. So on my way out i looked in the window to see what she was up to. well i did not mean for her to see me. ugh. She was rubbing her eyes, and wanted mommy instantly. when mam-maw was here Adler got use to 2 naps a day....which i think she still needs. But at school she only gets one long afternoon nap. So between needing a nap, probably hungry, and seeing mommy there was a COMPLETE MELT DOWN. i felt so bad i hugged and kissed on her but as i handed her back to her teacher she was screaming, crying, and throwing a absolute fit. i am sure the teacher loves me right about now. ugh. i did not want to disrupt her or her day, but i wanted to check in on her. the school needs a one way mirror or something. breaks my heart when i have to leave her like that when i know the simple fix is a mommy snuggle and a nap.

sista's 4eva

Adler can say Rigby now. Sounds more like "re-bee." it is the cutest thing EVER when she starts talking to Rigby or is calling down the hallway after her. She does not say her own name yet, and that is probably our fault because we call her sissy more often than Adler at home. I have been trying hard to break that habit as i want her to know her name.

time away

So we took our first non-kid vacation. we went to Key West with some other adult friends while mam-maw stayed at our house with the girls. we are so very grateful that we could get away and not have to constantly worry about the girls. of course after about 24 hours away i was ready to come back to them. we stayed all weekend my pull was not enough to turn around and go back home but boy did i miss them and my heart would sink after talking to them. we were told they had a great time and only minimally asked about us so they were not absorbed by the fact we were gone. it will be a long time before we get to go kid-free again. i feel that they both grew up so much they looked different, older, bigger, ugh!!!!! Thanks again Theresa we really appreciated you coming in and hope you got to not only babysit but at least enjoy your vacation a little bit.

top heavy

we were playing on the back porch this past weekend with the swim equipment. Rigby had gotten a new life jacket and that in turn meant that Adler got a new (to her) life jacket too. so they just "had" to try them on. so we got out some of the pool toys for them to play pretend with. well Adler saw something in the bottom of the large cubbie bin that she needed and when head first in to retrieve it. well with the added weight of the life jacket she was too top heavy to get out of the bin. she did not freak out or cry she just kind of whimpered twice. At this point mam-maw and i were in stitches over the image but ran to her aid right away.

day care sucks

I don’t really know if this day care sucks or we are just not that use to it because we did not have this much drama with Miss Rigby. Adler has had this spot on her face it kind of popped up the same time as the rash on her leg/arm. It is seeming to spread on her face. I have tried a few creams on it to no avail. So I Googled ringworm. I heard a mother and teacher at the school talking about it on her child and took a shot in the dark. Well the pictures line up with what Adler has. Ringworm is a fungal infection. It is very common in children because it spreads easily due to personal contact. Cure is ointment like Lamisil. So I went to Wal-Mart and got some generic cream and on the outside wrapper it has big letters stating "helps cure jock itch" and I am rubbing it on my poor girls face. UGH!!!!

what is in a name?

We have been working with Rigby on her name. You can ask her, her name and she will say Rigby Jai Scott. Mommy's name is Mommy Scott and daddy's name is Daddy Scott and Adler's name is Adler 'Uncle Cole' Scott. ha ha ha ha ha. One time we were working on saying Nicole and she was butchering it and i told her to break it down 'nick' and 'Cole' then gave a reference 'Cole' like Uncle Cole well obviously that is what she remembered. So Adler is now called Adler 'Uncle Cole' Scott in the family line up.

I am not sure if it was the Trix or just her state of mind for the day but Adler was wound up. yes, she did have other healthy breakfast options along with the handful of dry cereal, like cheese, yogurt, and fruit. she was running and screaming and laughing and into everything this morning. she has that zest for life that is only capable in small children.

no doc

So Adler spent the day with mam-maw besides the fact that she wanted to sleep away most the afternoon there was no other adverse side effects of the rash. she never lost her appetite or never spiked a fever so she just got a one on one play date with grandma. today she is back at school. she does still have a little rash on her arm/leg.

headed to the poor house

Looks like Adler is going to put us in the poor house with her multiple medical visits. OMG. This morning i noticed a fine slightly pink rash on the inside of her leg. i just got a call from the school and that rash seems to have somehow spread to her arms and the top of her head. luckily that mam-maw got in last night so she can watch Adler closely and see if it gets any better/worse in the next hour or so and we will then determine if she needs to go to the doc. ugh.

self praise

Adler must hear she is a 'good girl' a lot. She will do something...any thing and if the tasks is done well she will say "good girl." like if she picks up toys and puts them back in the bin, sometimes she will stop and say "good girl." if she puts her juice glass on the table she will again stop and say "good girl." this chick is too funny!

noisey eater

When trying to get Alder to eat we make sounds like "nom-nom-nom" or "hmmmmm." the funniest part is that Alder will mimic those sounds while eating and have no idea why.

rise and shine

since her eye issue Adler has been waking early. 5 to 5:30a is what i mean by early. that is more than an hour earlier than i would possibly need her up. i cant let her fuss it out and try to go back to sleep because she is normally really hungry and mommy has been spoiling her with a bottle (now just cow milk-formula gone.) more importantly 9 out of 10 times she has a diaper full of pee and poop and who in the hell would want to sit in that. i get the idea of wanting that off my rump as soon as possible. so we get up. it is our alone time. we normally snuggle and cuddle and tickle and play. i cant say it a bad way to start the day.
