last one to bite the dust
Adler has been running around like a manic. she seems to have sucked up all the energy that us sick-o's have lost. she has been super hyper even. until yesterday, then she hit the wall. she was warm with only a 99 temperature so not really high but all she wanted to do was snuggle and be held so i knew she finally got bit by the cold/flu bug. i would give her Tylenol or Motrin then she would feel a little better. last night she woke at 2am and i went to get her she was on fire. she had a 101.4 temp not ungodly high but i hate when my babies have fevers. I know it is a good thing and the body is fighting off the germ itself but always worries me something fierce. she did not want to go to sleep she wanted to eat, i guess thinking it was morning. as she did not eat much dinner i got her some Gatorade and some crackers along with some more drugs. after a snack and drink she feel back asleep till almost 7am today. she was cooler but still warm. more drugs and breakfast and she is back to running around like a crazy lady. managing to pester the hell out of her sister.

twinkle toes
we found a pair of shoes that had blinky lights in the toes at the GW yesterday. good side they were in great shape, bad side is that they just now fit so they wont last long at this house. we put them on when we got home and showed Adler when she walks, stomps, or jumps they light up. well she went around for the rest of the afternoon stomping and jumping and falling down. the falling down part was because she would be bent at the waist looking at her toes watching them twinkle. silly girl.

two names
I call Rigby by her first and middle name all the time. this is not considered a bad thing i just reference her as Rigby Jai just like i did my brother growing up. i was always calling him Cole William. so it is my thing. the funniest is now Adler is calling Rigby, Rigby Jai all the time too.

what?
I think Adler's hearing is fine along with her comprehension. it is her sense of sarcasm that kills me at age two. OMG. we are going to be in trouble. if she does not understand (rarely) or if she does not like what you are saying she says "what?" and you know this is sarcasm or denial as you can repeat what you said and she will continue to say "what?" so it is not a matter of actually hearing. it is her attitude towards you/the situation. this one is going to make ALL my hair go gray early i am sure of that!!!!

pavlov's dog
every time I turn on the hair dryer Adler comes running. she wants to brush her teeth. it does not matter what time of day it is or how many times she has brushed her teeth it happens with out fail.

pick up sister
Although they sometimes fight like cats and dogs after we drop Rigby off at school Adler misses her sister. If we go out and run errands she is not bad but if we just come home after about 20 minutes she starts asking about Rigby. she begins asking "go pick up sissy?" this is on a loop for the next four hours till it really is time to pick up Rigby. UGH!!!

Hershey's Kisses
I don't know what Hershey's spent on their holiday commercial but it must be good bang for their buck as they have run it for quite a few years. you know the one i am talking about the 10 red and green kisses that are mimicking bells. well, this commercial stops Adler in her tracks when she hears it. i remember that it use to do the same thing for Rigby. Must be the combination of the simplicity of the visual and the clear music.

boobie covers
I am not sure how it started but instead of calling a bra a bra we reference it as a booby cover. i think it started with breast feeding/pumping but not sure. whenever it started it has stuck. Adler is always calling them booby covers and the other day we were in a woman's store and there was a lingerie section and Adler just starts shouting at the top of her lungs..."BOOBY COVERS, look mom BOOBY COVERS." i just laugh.

Ho, Ho, Ho
Adler does not really say the letter "S" so the word snuggle is just 'nuggle. so I guess that is why she has opted to refer to Santa as "ho, ho, ho." so we went to visit 'ho, ho, ho' yesterday. I was pretty sure that we would have another year of at least one crying baby. I was right. Adler was NOT happy and cried the minute daddy put her on Santa's lap. in her defense it was about an hour past nap time. I thought for sure she would sleep all the way to the store but she did not fall asleep till we were almost in the parking lot. UGH. she loved looking at the fish swimming in the tank and she made it thought our almost 2 hour lunch and almost the whole car ride home but then she crashed hard. she got over a hour and 1/2 hour nap but when time was up she did NOT want to get up and was very fussy and clingy. we had to 'nuggle for quite sometime.

encouragement
I know she get it from me/daddy but it is still really sweet when you hear the girls encouraging one another. phrases that I love Rigby and Adler saying to each other...beautiful...excellent job...proud of you...pretty girl.

DO NOT TOUCH
DO NOT TOUCH is a phrase that Adler hears a lot these days. yesterday alone she must have heard it 1000 times. we got the Christmas tree and i was rushing to get it up and decorated so i could get dinner made all before i had to pick Rigby up from school. mission accomplished, but we broke a few ornaments along the way. ugh!!!! she it at the age she understands DO NOT TOUCH, but just for the life of her can not abide by it.

oink, oink
whenever we get coin change back (or even dollars) the girls are always asking for money. we hand them a coin and if they can manage to hold on to it the whole ride home we insist that they "feed the pig" as soon as they get in the house. Once Adler drops the coin in she oinks. it is the cutest thing, i thought she did it on her own, but found out it was a learned behavior from daddy. it does not take away from the cute factor.

read to me
Adler loves to be read too. Anytime you sit still she pulls out a book and jumps up on your lap and shouts at you "read, read."

so funny
yesterday Adler had gas. she would let rip these farts then laugh, and laugh, and laugh the most evil sounding noise. it was funny and creepy. that kid is odd.

scared to death
i put Rigby to bed, but like every other night she finds about a dozen ways to get out of her room and come ask me random questions. As i snuggle Adler trying to get her to go to sleep i just send Rigby back to her room and tell her i will be in a minute. finally Adler is asleep i take her to her room and lay her down in bed. i gently close the doors and head into Rigby's room. Rigby has decided that she wants me to switch up the pillow cases. as i have not done it in a few weeks so i agree. so as i am starting the switch i hear Adler start fussing before i am done switching out the 1st case she is bawling. i try to go super fast and put the second pillow case on and get out by the time i am done she is keening like nothing i have heard before. you could hear the absolute fear in her screams. it is dark in her room/office but the curtains were parted so that some of the moon light and Christmas lights were shining in. so it was dark but not pitch black. i am sure she was 1.)upset mommy was no longer holding her, 2.)she was scared of the dark, and 3.)pissed off she could not figure out (in the dark) how to open the pocket doors. i fling the doors open and she is right there in the door way a wet(tears,) blubbering, snotty mess. i felt horrible. as Rigby has a set of Christmas lights in her room i stole the night light out of her room and set it up in Adler's' room and let her see how it shown and the room would not be dark anymore. it was probably another 20 minutes or more of me holding her in my arms to get her to fully calm down and get back to sleep.

Jack is back
Well our elf on a shelf showed up this morning. I tried out the name Buddy again with the girls but they were not having it. they opted on Jack. So today Jack showed up in the kitchen on top the fridge. I will have to now set a reminder in my phone to remember to MOVE him nightly.

light it up
on black Friday daddy spent the afternoon hanging up the Christmas lights. this year we scored some colorful lights and icicles from a friend for free. they really light up the house and look oh so pretty. after working hard all afternoon we got to go outside and lite 'em up and both girls "ohhhh" and "ahhhh" over daddy's hard work. There is much more to be done to get ready for Christmas but the first step has been made and it looks lovely.

on the phone
Adler has taken to calling her Dora dominio's cell phones. she has them held up to her ear when she is chatting away. telling me all the time when she is on the phone. this story only gets WEIRD when she shoves the domino in her panties because she does not have on any pants/pockets and I have to repeatedly tell her to take the dominos out of her panties. ugh!

little helper
Adler likes to help. Today she helped me clean out the dishwasher and put away the dishes. She pulls out the dish or silverware and says "here ya go." She also put the dirty clothes from the basket into the washing machine. for that job she got 1/2 way though and then got distracted or got board as it was only 1/2 done, but that is better than nothing. then we took out the trash and she got out a new bag and replaced it almost 100% by herself. if only this want to help around the house 'sticks.' :)

wet butt
Adler likes to go on the regular potty instead of her potty chair. with the help of a step stool she normally does a pretty good job. well, for some WEIRD reason she likes to flip up the seat and sit directly on the bowl. i have told her many times that this is un-cool, but she still does it from time to time. i am currently in the den checking Facebook and searching for jobs and i hear her freaking out and screaming from mommy. i know before i even get up from my chair what has happened. she has fallen and gotten her butt in the water-this has happened more than once. i scoop her out and explain this is why we keep the SEAT DOWN and towel her off (all with out laughing in her face.)

up chuck
GROSS!!!! Last night at dinner i am not sure what happened as no one saw but Rigby but something happened to make Adler vomit. both girls have a very sensitive gag reflex and does not take much for them to get sick. she did have her mouth full of food/hotdogs when i got up from the table. next thing i know i hear Rigby screaming that Adler got sick, and oh boy did she. her entire dinner and juice. ugh. we got that all cleaned up and gave her a squeeze and some raisins and more juice to get some food back in her tummy. well she was being a bad girl and playing in the closet and almost ripped the doors off the hinges so she got in trouble and that in turn got her all worked up. trying to calm her down she climbed up on my lap not 2 minutes later there was puke!!! me, her, the leather chair all were covered. this was a much more extensive clean up and this time there was NO FOOD afterwards she went to bed on an empty tummy. after the tears and a shower she was sent to bed early. she fussed at 2am and i brought her to bed with me but she did not want to get up till 6:30a today and even then she ate very little. she is not acting sick and no fever so i think last night was all DRAMA induced. UGH!!

what's wrong with you?
this morning getting dressed Adler was being difficult. she is very opinionated on what she wears...again opposit of her sister...so she wanted pants. it is chilly here nothing like you are having up north. so we got the cotton pants picked out and starting to pull them on and her toes go all wonky. i teasingly said "point your toes, what is wrong with you?" she took her foot in her hands and looked right at it and said "what is wrong with you?" i busted up laughing so much so that Rigby came in asking "what is so funny?" i could not explain why it was funny, it just was.

balloons
We got Adler some balloons for her birthday party decorations. She also got a bunch as part of her present from Aunt Bridget. Well they are a hit. the best part might be how she says balloon...it is more like bab-boon (sounds like baboon.)

my parrot
Adler has turned into a parrot here at home repeating words or phrases at nausem. her favorites are when sissy is getting in trouble or Chopper. those phrases could last all day on repeat. OMG!!!

Happy Birthday little girl!!
Today got started just me and Adler. we snuggled and let the dog out. i sang to her and she told me gibberish stories. I made Mickey Mouse pancakes while she played in the kitchen. up in her high chair i lit the candles and sang to her again she was delighted to blow them out. i buttered her pancake and then she asked to do the candles again. so i did, lit them up and sang to her. we ate just the two of us, I LOVED IT and can only pray i get to do this birthday "tradition" with her forever. then Rigby got up she was happy for a pancake but very sad about having to wish Adler a Happy Birthday. when daddy got up we opened presents. Not much this year, but she still has some in the mail and i am sure she will get a few at her birthday party (cupcakes and cocktails) this weekend. she was so cute tearing into the paper she really got into it. the best i think was the gift bags. she did not doddle with pulling out the paper to revile the gift she just tipped the bag upside down and got right to the goods. So far she has scored a check from great-grandma Scott, a baby doll, a shopping cart, and step stool with her name carved into it. currently she has the baby loaded up in the shopping cart with purses and diaper bags and toy food and a bunch of other stuff having a grand ole time.

my introvert
Adler is the BRUTE at home but get her out in a crowd or around a group of kids and she crawls in her shell. today as always she likes the swing. i think that is because it is solitary activity. she likes watching the kids but not sure on interacting with them. so we sat in the grass and watched as others would run around. or she would go to the high vantage point of the slide and look down on everyone. just amazes me again when i sit and watch my two girls just how different they are with almost everything.

new bed
We did a little re-arranging here today. Adler got Rigby's old converter bed and we were able to move some cubbies that were out on the porch back into Rigby's room. Adler was pretty much less bothered but Rigby was oh so sad to see the bed (that she almost never slept in) leave her room. tears were shed. ugh. I only worry about Adler falling out of bed. guess i need to find some fluffy pillows to lay on the floor for the next few days till we are sure how she will do.

dog shy
Adler is very dog shy, even down right scared. yesterdays experience is not going to change that. Mommy had to go on an interview, and sissy was at school, so Adler was left with daddy. daddy got a call to estimate a new handyman job and took her along. well i guess the resident had 3 dogs and 2 cats and they are all super friendly to daddy so he did not think about them towards a little person and Adler was nipped. she got a scratch on the top of her foot and an a small puncture on the bottom of her foot (why was she barefoot - i don't know.) she did not remember to tell me when i got home so she was not overwhelmingly traumatized by it, but it wont ingratiate her to dogs in the future i am sure.

too quiet
After we dropped Rigby off at school Adler and I came back home. mommy worked on the computer and played with Adler till her phone interview. once the call came in i went out on the porch to talk in privet. while i was out there for sometime i started to wonder what she was up too. normally when i am on the phone on the porch she is standing at the door pounding on it and crying to come out with me. so i popped back in to check on her...good thing. i found her in the living room with a training panty full of poop in her hand. as my interviewer droned on i quietly wiped her butt and set aside the dirty panty to clean when i was off the phone. i then stepped into the living room to finish the conversation and left Adler in the bathroom sitting on the potty. i checked back in on her MAYBE two minutes later and she had pulled an entire box of Kleenex out of the box and put them all in the toilet. i found her just as she was trying to flush them. UGH!!!!!! again i silently removed her from the room and left the mess to be cleaned up later when i was off the phone. when all said and done i must have done OK as i ranked a face-to-face interview (not that big of deal as i have been on a lot of second interviews...but not sealing the deal.) then i had to fish a box of wet Kleenex out of the toilet with my hands and wash out poopy pantie. YEA!

tippy toes
Alder walks on her tippy toes a lot. the weird thing is she does not walk on the pads of her toes, but her nails. yea, she points her toes all the way under and walks on the nails of her toes when they are bent under. it looks painful but she does it all the time so it must not be.

potty talk
yesterday Adler did AMAZINGLY well pee pee on the potty. Even told me when she was wearing a diaper. it was a perfect pee pee on the potty day...then daddy left for work and went back to pee pee in panties. ugh. i don't know if that was an accident or just she likes to 'preform' for daddy as she has turned into a real daddy's girl. today we are 50/50 potty vs. panty. since she does not turn two for another two weeks i know she is ahead of the game and i am not really pushing the issue, but i will be grateful we we are done with diapers.

full name
obviously Adler has heard me call daddy "Jason Michael" before. the other day when i was in the office on the computer doing a job search Alder was playing with toys and i hear her talking to toys/animals/dolls and was saying something about Jason MY-COLE. i was cracking up, she was saying just like that MY-COLE instead of Michael. they things they hear when you dont think about it at all.

meow
Happy Halloween!! Adler is going to be a kitty cat this year. Mam-maw sent her a costume that fits so we just went with it as the girls could not be part of our VooDoo theme this year. So they got to do a trial run with costume and make up at our Halloween party last weekend. Make up was by far the best part of the whole event they loved it that i put real make up on them. we snapped a few pics but i will get more tonight, promise.

may i ask you a question?
Adler has learned the art of asking a question. so now everything she says ends with her voice going up, like a question. it could be anything she says...it is just kind of funny and slightly annoying at the end of the day when EVERYTHING you have heard that day is in question form.

like sissy
today to go out and run our errands Rigby wore her sequin pumpkins shirt and jean shorts. Well there was no way i was going to be able to dress Adler differently. I was forced to find Adler's sequin pumpkin shirt and jean shorts. we topped both girls off with high pony tails with orange bows. Everyone we saw today complemented them on their outfits/bows. The teachers at the day care, the workers at the post office, total strangers stopped me to tell me just how CUTE they were. I graciously accepted the compliment, but also clarified that i was not the one making them matchy-matchy that was of their own doing.
Tuesday, October 28, 2014
uh oh
Adler's recent catch phrase "I gonna spank u ass." i am pretty sure she heard daddy say it to her or Rigby. No matter how hard i try to get her to substitute a different word: butt, biscuit, tush, tuckuass, ect... she still uses ASS!

scott annual party
there is always that one guy....well we had one. he showed up with a creepy-as-hell mask. it looked kind of like his skin was flayed off. well this freaked Adler OUT. she was pretty well quite and reserved the whole time and hiding in a corner or wanting to be held by someone the whole time.

pee pee treat
so a few weeks ago Mam-maw sent us a bunch of old school training pants. so we have been trying them out. so far i would say that we have had mostly fails but a few intermittent successes. last night there were two pee pees on the potty and one right after nap today. Pee pee on the potty equals a pee pee treat (currently a gummy.) that is something that Adler is REALLY jazzed about so i know that spurs her on. part of the thing that makes it so exciting i think is that she gets a treat and Rigby does not. hey, whatever works at this point. keep your fingers crossed that this takes hold soon. i am not really trying to potty train her, she is more excited about the idea of the new panties than actually going potty so we are just playing by ear and taking our time. hell, i am home and have nothing else pressing going on.

over here
the girls knew we were going to the pumpkin patch specifically to take pictures in their Halloween dresses. So we get there and plop them down in some wet hay and they hold pumpkins but for the life of them they smile and look at everything BUT the camera. UGH!!!!!!!!!!

beach
We met up with some friends yesterday for a cook out on the beach. it was an amazing day, sun shining, slight breeze, and warm water. unlike Myrtle Beach, the last time the girls were at the ocean/beach there is only a foot or two before there is a drop off and the water gets waist to chest deep on mommy. both girls held on to their rings and kick, kick, kicked and did a great job listening when we were in the water.

helping a sister out
Adler has always has a thing for remotes. so much so when she was younger that we got one of our old remotes out and gave it to her as a play remote. that does not deter her picking up and pushing the buttons on the REAL remotes though. i know she does not know what she is doing yet, but this morning she managed a good trick. i was watching the channel six news, more like it was on and i was listening to it from the kitchen. just about the time Rigby was getting up asking about the house smelling like muffins Adler got the remote and some how changed the channel to the local PBS station which has the morning cartoons. the funniest part is that Adler likes the remote, but still could pretty much careless about the television. we might get her to watch 2 minutes of Mickey Mouse but that would be the max. Rigby who loves tv and could sit and watch it ALL-DAY-LONG does not touch the remote. she asks permission and waits for mommy or daddy to change the program/movie for her.

daddy's girl
since we have been spending time at home Adler has really morphed into a daddy's girl. she wants him to do everything put ketchup on her plate, unbuckle her seat belt, it could be just about anything. mommy still gets the good stuff though that morning time snuggle, the boo-boo cries, and best the night time cuddle while falling asleep.
Wednesday, October 15, 2014
push me
Adler always wants to be part of the action. when you put her in the high chair and she is not in the position she wants she starts to change "push me, push me." normally she wants to be closer to mommy, but lately she has gotten an obsession with daddy. either way she will let you know don't worry.

make me laugh
this just happened...i am sitting at the dinning room table looking at the computer. Adler is under the table playing with her baby dolls, books and silly bands. Rigby is in her room with almost EVERY other toy we own out on the floor. Alder is playing quietly and talking to herself and the baby dolls. then we hear Rigby yell from her room "Adler come here." Alder shouts back "Rigby are you pooping?" i start CRACKING UP!!!!! Adler slowly gets up and wonders back to Rigby's room and they start randomly chattering at each other.
Monday, October 13, 2014
books
Adler is to the stage she really likes books. she does not really have the attention span to listen to a whole book. she likes looking at the pictures and dragging them out. OMG. i remember this stage with Rigby. every night i would come home and every single book we owned would be on the floor. since i am here and watch Adler closer than daddy did with Rigby we don't get every book out--all the time. sometimes mommy is busy and next thing you know there are 30 books to pick up clean up. oh well. i like keeping books accessible so they will hopefully enjoy a love affair with books i never had until must later in life.
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
sit, sit up
Adler has taken to playing with dollies and stuffed animals. we have TONS of these so she has a huge audience. the best is when she is off playing by herself with the dolls/animals and some are better than others at sitting. she really gets mad a the animals that don't sit up straight or slump. she will start to yell at them to "sit, sit up!!"

taste of her own medicine
Rigby and Adler were fighting yesterday. this in itself is not a big deal. it happens ALL TIME. what was different this time was Adler and Rigby were both crying. I went in to see what was going on. Adler was blubbering and i did not understand her. I did understand Rigby complaining that Adler was knocking down her bridge/tower and pinching her. so i separated them and shut the door so Rigby was left in her room by herself to play blocks. by now Adler had calmed down a little bit and climbed up on daddy's lap for some comfort. now we could tell she was saying..."Rigby bite." sure enough pulled down her pants and on her upper thigh there was a full bite mark. Now this means that Rigby got a talking too and time out. Since Alder is normally the biter it is kind of a taste of her own medicine and she did NOT like it. hopefully we get over this ASAP!!

paint and polish
so i got a wild hair and offered to paint nails today. mostlly cause i needed to do mine before they start to break and peel. so today i let the girls pick out their paint colors. Rigby got red fingers and toes. Adler got teal green toes. Adler still does not get fingers painted because she still sucks her thumb/fingers. I got a coat of gold to fancy up the digits and a light color so when it does start flaking off hopefully it wont be so noticable.

doctor visit
so took Adler to the doctor yesterday. she has had an on going cough and snotty nose for WEEKS now. doctor thought that it might be sinus/allergy related. at that time he gave daddy a script first suggested a shot of benadryl before bed. we did the benadryl shot for awhile and it did not seem to have any affect. then we filled the script and completed it, still Adler had the same symptoms. she did show signs of hand/foot/mouth with dozens of mouth lesions at one time but i knew that did not have thing to do with the cough and the post-nasal drip that she had/has. this time she got a kiddy z-pac. we started with a double dose yesterday and another single dose this morning. i think she was less snotty and coughing. not better but maybe started in that direction.

recycle
we are a recycling family. broward county makes it so stinking easy. they have provided us a big blue barrel that we throw anything recyclable in it and they sort it so that has taken all of the actual work out of it. so we set things that are recyclable on the counter by the back door and when the pile gets big or someone is going out they take the recycling out. well Adler is now the master of recycling she sees 1-2 things on the counter she starts talking about recycling. she gets so excited. almost every morning (if we are not running late) we take out cereal boxes or yogurt containers out and throw them in the blue bin. i love that the girls want to be involved and although they don't understand the consequences of their actions yet they know that it is something we do and i hope that will continue.

disapearing diaper
Adler has a new trick. She will normally do it then show it too you. she has learned to rip her diaper off. this is not always that bad, unless there is poop in it. then that gets flung around the room. YES that did happen. I was in the bathroom and she was in the living room talking about raisins and came to me with her diaper in her hands. mess to say the least. ugh. we tried working with the potty but after she pooped in all the training panties we had gave up for the day/weekend. she is not 100% there yet but i am sure it wont be long. I just wish she would leave the diaper changes up to me and keep her HANDS OFF.

WHAT DO I DO????
I know i wrote about it a little while ago, and i know it is my fault, but i need to get it corrected and i don't know how. Having to do with bringing Adler to bed with me/us. Well tried to let her cry it out a little last night hoping she would "get over it" and go back to sleep and she whaled and whaled till she vomited. so then i had to get her and bring her to bed as i did NOT have the energy to change all her linens. thankfully she did not have any on her person so we could just snuggle in and deal with the mess in the morning. i want to break this cycle (kind of) so i can get a better night sleep, but i also like having my baby there to snuggle me all night and be the 1st thing i see in the mornings.

not lookin' so good
Poor Adler she is looking ruff these days. ugh. her eczema has flared up again on her cheek. it is about the size of a silver dollar. we have been trying the creams from doc, the old ones, the new ones, Eucerin, Neosporin, whatever else we can think of but not getting any better. she has to GIANT spots on the back her her knees too. back to that face...she has a gouge taken out of her forehead at her hairline. don't know what happen, but it was over the weekend. when i pull her hair up in the Pebbles pony you can totally see it. yesterday she came home with a chunk taken out of her ear. the school or teachers did not notify me so more than likely she did it to herself and did not cry much about it. ugh. poor Brut! i just wish we could kick the eczema as it has been weeks now. i just read that it could be linked to upper respiratory infections and allergies. which i am sure Adler has one or both of as she has had a snotty nose/cough forever now. we did over the counter drugs and doctor prescribed ones to no avail. i guess it is time to go back to the doc. errrrr!!!!

sit with you
one of Adler's most used phrases these days is "sit with you." this is totally fine when we are sitting on the couch just watching some boob-tube. this is annoying when i am trying to eat dinner. Adler says this not as a question or statement but as a demand. if you tell her no or ignore her demand the melt down begins and eventually i give in as i just want the screaming/crying to end. i know this is just SPOILING HER ROTTEN but mommy has to keep her sanity at the same time.

bossy pants
Adler is definitely Miss Bossy Pants in our house. she sees you cooking in the kitchen she starts giving orders on where you have to go and eat. even if you are not ready to sit. she will just keep saying it over and over and over till you comply. she LOVES to tell Rigby what to do. "eat your cereal" "brush your teeth" "put on your shoes" ect...these are all things that she hears daddy and i say repeatedly but have to remind both the girls that they are not the boss of one another and only daddy and i can tell who to do what. it is very cute, but cant give that girl an inch!!!

drop off
FINALLY drop off at school for the last two days has been almost seamless. thankfully she has gotten to a point that i can drop her off and she does not instantly dissolve into tears. that makes it easier on BOTH of us i think.

I do it
Alder is becoming more and more independent. which is wonderful and horrible all in the same. wonderful as then i don't have to do for her, horrible as in WHERE IS MY BABY?? her newest expression of this independence is dressing herself. she does NOT have it mastered by any means but she tries and tries. she puts shirts on as pants or both legs in one hole or pulls a shirt on like a tube top. every once and awhile after a few tries she nails it. most the time she dissolves to tears and comes yelling for help. although the minute you start to help she yells that she wants to do it. i am trying to lay the clothes out to help minimize confusion and smooth the process but it is just a learning curve.

almost there
this morning (mommy had a RAGING headache and was not feeling the best) and Adler was shouting that she needed to go potty. so i told her to go get the frog (our potty chair.) she lugged it out to the living room which after the fact i thought to ask Rigby if she actually USED the frog in the middle of the night-thankfully no. Alder was on a mission. I was not to concerned as normally she says she has to go potty AFTER she already goes in her diaper. she got her jammie bottoms off and diaper off and sat down. i gave her a tissue and walked away (again not feeling well.) afterwards she was saying she went potty and when i checked there was a dribble. Rigby and i both praised her and gave giant bear hugs. if i was not 1000 shades of miserable these days we are right there and i bet if we had a whole weekend at home we could almost get this potty training thing knocked out. maybe in the next few weeks.

new phrase
Adler has come to say "oh, bob-a me-ho." i have no idea what it means. i am assuming as both of her teachers at school are Brazilian that it is some version of a Portuguese/Spanish phrase that i am sure she is probably not pronouncing correctly. it is funny. she uses it like oh my goodness.

toliet fishing
i was putting on my make up and getting ready for work. now that i have FINALLY created the fake make up for the girls Adler loves to get it out and put hers on in the bathroom along with me. i wash brushing, applying, plucking, ect...and did not really notice what Adler was really doing. I left the room to check on Rigby to make sure she was eating/getting dressed. When i walk back into the bathroom Adler had the toilet lid up and was flinging all of her make-up compacts and brushes in the toilet. gross! i had to fish them all out. lucky they are all used compacts with nail polish in their make-up reciprocals so it was not really a mess just WET.

shot time
Adler somehow got over due for her shots. We are normally excelletn on keeping/making all of the girls appointments so we dont know how this one got by us. The doc would not do them last time daddy had both the girls there as they were sick. so today was the make up day. Adler got three shots and daddy said she did not cry at all. what a big girl!!!! speaking of big girl i guess now they are providing you with some sort of prediction on

shot time
Adler somehow got over due for her shots. We are normally excellent on keeping/making all of the girls appointments so we don't know how this one got by us. The doc would not do them last time daddy had both the girls there as they were sick. so today was the make up day. Adler got three shots and daddy said she did not cry at all. what a big girl!!!! speaking of big girl, i guess now they are providing you with some sort of prediction on the growth pattern of the children. well, currently Adler is projected to be 5'6" to 5'8". So she will tower over momma. She is currently only in the 60th percentile for height and 40th percentile for weight. She is measuring in at 33 and 1/2 inches tall and 23 and 1/2 pounds.

sleeping habbits
Adler use to be the best when it came to bed time. I could just lay her down in her bed and close the doors and walk away. I am not sure how we morphed into the crazy bedtime habits we have now. i would love to roll back the clock and break these habits. i know they are as much-if not more-my fault than hers as i let her get away with it. hell i slept in Rigby's bed for over 2 years, so i don't have a good track record. these days we all go into Rigby's room and listen to stories. then i kiss and close the door on Rigby and Adler and i go back out to the living room and snuggle on the couch 'till she falls asleep in my arms. this is not so bad, it is this newer development that has me at wits end. now she will wake up anywhere between midnight and 3am and i can get up and comfort her and hold her till she goes back to sleep but the minute i lay her back down in her bed she wakes and throws a fit which include screaming and blubbering. I know this started on vacation as i was trying to keep her quite with us all crammed in one room and the rest of the family just a paper thin wall away i was trying to keep her quite so i brought her to bed with daddy and I. well now that is the only way to shut her up. the minute she lays down and feels me laying next to her she is off to la-la land. i don't know how to break this with out a lot of screaming and crying from both of us and waking up the entire house. UGH!!!

rain jacket
today when i was dropping the girls off at school i noticed the teachers were giving us weird looks. then realized that all three of us were wearing our rain jackets. at school the sun was out and not a drop of rain had fallen, but at our house when we were loading up it was pouring. so i explained this and we all had a good laugh at it. then i left and by the time i pulled up in the parking lot at my office (across the street) it was sprinkling. when i get into my office and look out the window it was a sheer downpour. ha ha ha who isn't crazy after all... THE SCOTT GIRLS!! oh by the way i noticed today that all three of us have poke-a-dot rain jackets. all different colors but dang we are cute when we are bundling up against the elements. :)

hating it
I guess it is taking Adler quite a bit to get use to her new classroom as she still bawls when i drop her off at school. today it was so bad she started crying the minute i drove in the parking lot. I know which are her new teachers and they are nice and friendly. When i pick her up at the end of the day she is all smiles and giggles. So it is just the idea of change that i guess is not sitting well with her. UGH. i feel horrible that the teachers/aids have to restrain her after i drop her off otherwise she could run out the door and follow me. as her new classroom does not have a baby gate. it breaks a mommies heart. i did stick around for a little bit but that was not helping either.

letters
Adler is about 80% on her A-B-C's. She gets most letters. Which is amazing. Rigby was no where near that when she started school after her 2nd birthday. Adler is just now approaching 2 and she has most of her letters and some numbers. So i can totally see where the school is helping both the girls.

evil
i don't know it is was that we were on vacation and away from the set schedule but Adler got into some very bad habits. she started biting, hitting, and pulling hair. this could just be more of the terrible-two's rearing their ugly little head. she is not sorry for her actions when being warned she just will give you this evil smile or maniacal laugh that is until spankings or time out show up. then she is all tears and apologies. i am hoping routine and school will help curb this immediately. i don't know if Rigby can take much more as she is normally the brunt of the violence.

no more white pants
Happy Labor Day! Adler is very scary around pools. 1.) she does not listen 2.) she wont keep her ring on 3.) she has no fear (maybe that should be number 1 4.) she is convinced that she can touch the bottoms at all time even in the 5ft. ugh!!! gives daddy and 1000 mini heart-attacks.

new shoes
While on vacation Rigby only had one pair of sandals. they were cute white ones that we originally purchased for her to wear at Cole and Meghan's wedding. for school the girls have to wear closed toe shoes so she only gets to sport the sandals on the weekends. well they fell apart and were looking pretty shabby. daddy and i went thrifting one day when the girls were taking a nap and we found a great little kids consignment shop. something’s were ridiculously priced but some were perfect and that week everything for summer was 50% off. we found two pairs of white sandals for $2 each then rang up for $1 each, cant beat those prices. so when i got home i went though the bins of shoes we have for Adler to grow into. i found a 1/2 dozen pairs that i could pull out and resurrect for her and she was over the moon. NEW SHOES are a sweet spot for that girl.

milk please
Adler wants to be like her big sissy in so many ways right now. lately she sees Rigby get ceral with milk and has decided that is what she wants so i give her a small bowl with a splash of milk and she does well. yea most of the milk does end up on the tray or down her front but she is getting better all the time.

what ya doin?
Adler has entered the question phase. she will ask "what ya doin?" when you are doing anything. she does not really listen to the answer so she just continues to ask the question. I know Rigby went though this phase but she shorten it to just "doin?" so i guess this is just a normal curiosity. i guess this is the pre-cursor to the damn question "why?"

Awe Man
we can blame this one all on daddy. Adler has picked up a catch phrase. she says "awe, man." the cutest part is that 90% of the time it is a totally adequate response. No more juice till dinner...."awe, man." you have to wear closed toe shoes to school today..."awe,man." ha ha ha. it is said with total 'tude and is too cute.

ice cream and play
we woke up from naps and AGAIN it is pouring. we waited for it to die down and got in the car. we wanted ice cream and ended up at the chick-fil-a. they have an indoor playground with a 2-story slide. Rigby and Adler loved it. on a few of the steps the spread was too wide so we had to teach Rigby to help Adler up by grabbing her butt and helping her sling her legs up. it was not an authentic South Carolina adventure but we got ice cream and to play how is that a bad time.

tummy troubles
I am not sure what is perplexing poor Alder's tummy so much while were are here. We are pretty consistent with her diet as we are at home. Or let me re-phrase that she is still as picky here as she is at home. she is eating chicken nuggets, hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, cheese, crackers, squeezes, bananas, corn, nuts, juice, yogurt and asundry other items. nothing is really outside her wheelhouse but my, oh my has she filled up her diapers. not once but MULTIPLE times. so much so that we have had a few incidents where it has spilled out and down her leg and she has become a pro at the stand up shower and even asks for it when she knows she has really soiled herself. this normally does not affect her mood, but just the moment till she is all squeaky clean again. (see more vacation stories on Rigby's blog.)

rain, rain go away
so there is a local little carnival we thought we would hit one night after dinner. so we cleaned our plates we loaded in the car and drove the few blocks and parked. we all had exited the cars and gotten Adler strapped into the stroller and the skys opened and were in a torrential down pour. we got soaked. we all did our fast dance to get loaded back into the car as fast as we can. there we decided not to stay as even as the rain was lightening up the rides would all be wet. so off to ice cream. we get to a local joint that is an ice cream shack that you walk up to. well luckily they had a carport that we could hang out under as as soon as we ordered the skys opened up again. at this point it did not matter as we were pretty much all drenched. (want more vacation stories see Rigby's blog.)

car ride
so the trip from Ft Lauderdale to Myrtle Beach in the middle of the night is only about 10 hours. we started out after dinner on Friday. we watched a movie on the way down. we took daddy's truck and it was very comfy to ride in...horrible to try to sleep in. Adler was lucky as she has a 4 point harness so her head just dangled. Rigby has an over the shoulder seat belt so she wobbled back and forth and would fall asleep and wake herself up as her head would loll to one side or the other. we finally had to prop her head up with daddy's pillows. downside to the 10 hour drive is that is what we arrived here at 5am and could not check in till 2p. so we hung out at Walmart for a while then breakfast at a restaurant then tried some pool time but got rained out....then we sat in daddy's truck and watched movies. it was a LONG ASS day. daddy went some 36 hours with little to no sleep. ugh. (see Rigby's blog for more vacation stories.)

animal lover
Alder has an animal book. it has lots of pictures of animals and she obviously has most of them memorizes as i think that we probably "read" this book at least 4-5 times a day. some of her favorites are owl (always followed by "who, who",) panda, snake (followed by "sssssssss",) a dial (aka. crocodile,) and monkey. she gets super excited when she sees animals on tv or in books or magazines. She really did like the zoo both times we have went this summer. She does not say much, but you can see the white all the way around her eyes as she has them as wide open as possible taking it all in.

Criss-Cross
i think Adler is bringing back the Criss-Cross backward dress style. she has become very adamant about dressing herself in the mornings. i let her as it keeps her busy and out of my hair while i finish getting ready. yesterday she did finally after a lot of directions get her pants on (backwards) and i had to help with the shirt. by the time it was time to walk out the door i forgot the pants were on backwards. in my defense the only difference between the front and back is a tiny silk bow in the front. when she got home last night they were STILL on backwards so i guess no one noticed. today the shorts had pockets on the front and back so it was obvious that they were on backwards but she was fighting me tooth-n-nail that she was not going to have me correct them. so i made mental note to tell the teacher and at the next diaper change flip them around. she is definitely my little DIVA. Rigby still does not really care what she wears and would be super happy if i would dress her, but i make her do it on her own. Adler is already wanting to do it all on her own, and i am sure it wont be long before she is telling ME what she will and wont wear.

boo-boo
this weekend Adler was in the back of the shopping cart and some how got her finger pinched. at the time all we knew was she made the face of pain and cried. hugs, snuggles and distraction eventually calmed her down. later that day or the next we did notice that she was missing a pretty good chunk of skin on her finger. it did not bleed but it had made a definite ouchie. her finger was infected too all red and puffy. will be playing fine and then remember he ouchie and then she will have to point it out to daddy and get a kiss, to mommy and get a kiss and then to Rigby and get a kiss. then she can sort of move on but it wont be but 10 minutes before we go through this all over again. most the time this is followed by her showing us her tummy where she got bit last week. there is still one faint mark but she is still playing it up for all the sympathy she can get.

Adler, oh Adler
this morning she woke up at 3:30a. i tried to get her to cuddle in bed with me but she insisted on getting up. she finally relayed that she was hungry and wanted a squeeze and since she did not eat much dinner that made since. so she sucked down two squeezes in a matter of minutes. i tried to get her snuggle and go back to sleep in my arms but that was not happening. so i took her to bed. she finally fitfully got some sleep...i on the other hand was not so lucky. at 5:30a she woke up demanding juice. i gave up the fight and got out of bed and got her the juice and started watching the morning news. she started to play. after a while she brought me a scarf and we were playing and i am overly tired and quite frankly not in the mood and i let go. she plopped down on her but and let out an ear piecing scream. it was not a hard or violent fall so i was not sure what was wrong. then i surveyed the situations and saw debris on the couch by her. come to find out that her diaper was FULL of diarrhea and when she fell on her bottom that made it all "splat." it was a GIANT mess. i finally gave up and just took her in the shower with me as it was all the way up in her hair. the jammies kept most of it contained but there was splatter marks on the floor and as i said debris all up the side of the couch. she loved the shower and was having a great time. there was an vomiting incident in mommy/daddy's bed and another violent diarrhea explosion but i just don't have the strength to outline them right now. let's just say that girl can not have ANYTHING left in her system.

sugar smacks
Adler started fussing at about 12:30ish. I knew daddy had to get up at 1a and go to work so i was trying to keep her quiet. i got up and went out on the couch and we snuggled and watch the early morning news. when daddy did get up she was still awake and she just watch him walk around and go about his morning business and did nothing more than suck her thumb until daddy sat down to eat his obligatory bowl of cereal. then she made a move. she whipped off her little snuggle blanket and pushed off my lap. runs right over to daddy and starts thumping on his leg. he sweetly talks to her and lifts her up into the seat next to him and shares some of his cereal (which is the real reason she has come to visit him.) this morning he was having sugar smacks or the Aldi version of it. well daddy said she only had maybe 3 spoonfuls so in the long run it was not much. i guess it was enough though as daddy was leaving she was trying to pull out all her toys and play. i put the toys up and got her back up on my lap and snuggled a little longer. she was not going back to sleep so i talked her into getting into my bed. thinking that being in the dark and being still would improve her chances of going back to sleep. WRONG. she did not drift back off to sleep till almost 4a this morning. i bet she is a real peach at school today. ugh. daddy has to work the super early shift for the next two days. i hope Adler does not think she is getting up then too. as there WILL NOT be any more sugar smacks that is positive!!!!

sunnies
Adler loves her sunnies (sunglasses) she asks for them after we get in the car. I can only assume she gets this from me as i cant pull out of the driveway before i get my sunglasses on. my eyes are very sensitive to the light and i whine and complain if i don't have sunnies. so much so that i keep spare pairs in my car, daddies car, the house, the pool bag, or anywhere else i think i might need them. I have about a 1/2 dozen pairs for the girls too. i keep them mostly in the car, but always have my eyes open at the GW for more as they are kids and glasses break. I would hate for us to be out!!

new catch phrase
Adler has a new phrase that she says on repeat. "i see you." you can be literally standing right in front of her and she will say "I see you" but it is in the sweetest little voice you cant help but say "i see you." back to her. she gets a giant kick out of it.

tummy issues
Adler was up at 4AM today. i brought her to our bed and she snuggled for about 30-40 minutes before she decided she wanted a squeeze. so we got up. she sucked the squeezed down then started fussing. she wanted up and for me to walk to the laundry room but once we were there she did not want anything to eat or drink so i dont knwo what she wanted. after doing this about a dozen times she finally started to play with the food toys. then was screaming "tummy hurt." i asked her is she wanted medicine to help her poop. she answered yes, i bet she wont ever do that again. ha. so i gave her a suppository. i guess you can say it worked as she did poop, but they were hard and super smelly nuggets. i know she was working on them as she stood in the corner by the tv holding on to the cabinetry and doing deep knee bends and crying. i knew there was nothing else i could do to help her. poor thing i felt so bad for her. we did manage to eat some yogurt and some of a banana. so she ate a little more than in the past few days but not her "normal" amount.

worried
Adler has me worried. yesterday at breakfast i think she had one squeeze and 1/2 of a mini blueberry muffin. this is not like her she normally eats well. on the way to school she complained about a tummy ache. i did not really take this to heart as Rigby has been complaining about tummy problems for days. so i figured that Adler was just mimicking her sister. i did tell teacher about both not eating and the tummy ache complaint. then at dinner again she did not eat. we did, at almost bed time get her to eat one and 1/2 squeezes and some popcorn. again eating is her thing and usually don't have to encourage her so i am worried. she kept telling me her choo-choo hurt or that she pooped and needed medicine. so then i thought that maybe she had a urinary tract infection and one drop feels like 1000. i don't know. this morning i got a banana in her and a handful of cereal. she did have a giant hard poop before we left for school. so hopefully that is what was causing all the issues and she will be back to her hungry self tonight for dinner.

meanie
I don't know if it is her personality or if it is just her going though the terrible-two's. she has been hitting and pulling hair more lately. she does not get what she wants she just lashes out. so time-out has become very frequently visited by Miss Adler. this is not her trying to stand up for herself if Rigby takes a toy. she does this for everything these days. i tell her she cant have lemon-aid she tries to bite me. she sees Rigby on the rocking horse she walks up to her and grabs a giant handful of hair and yanks. UGH!!!!!!!! how fast can we get over this stage. luckily i have not gotten any letters home lately so she must be mildly better for them than us. (as i say this, i am sure i will probably get a write up tonight when i go to pick her up.) :(

getting inked
this weekend i gave the girls some pictures to color along with some markers. Daddy was in the house and i was doing chores so not watching their every move. i heard from the back of the house daddy yell at Adler "Nooooooo!!!!!" i come out to see that she had taken the markers and drawn all over her tummy. they were Crayola washable markers so i was not too crazy about it. they MOSTLY wash off unlike some of the other "washable" markers we have. because daddy yelled at her, startling her more than anything, she was crying but i could not pass up the moment and i got the camera out and took pictures of the aftermath. (posted pictures soon)

pretty piggies
As usual Alder and i were up at the butt crack of dawn. I did not get around to my almost weekly mani/pedi this weekend so i got out some polish to try to do on my lunch hour at work. Adler saw me digging though my Tupperware full of polished and started keening. so i plopped her tush in the high chair and smacked on a coat of my fastest drying polish then gave her some breakfast and turned on Mickey Mouse to try to get her to sit still till they were dry. of course they are no where near perfect, it is hard to paint a moving target. she loved it and wanted her fingers painted too but since she is still an avid thumb sucker that was a no-go.

come along
Adler is a much clearer speaker than Rigby was at her age. Most the time you can understand what she wants especially when you use your context clues. sometimes you are still baffled on what she is trying to communicate. even when you do understand what she is saying if you are not acting as fast as she wants you too she now will grab your finger and "lead" you to what she wants. the other day she was saying what sounded like "egg" I had no idea what she wanted but she promptly grabbed my hand and drug me to the refrigerator and smacked it a couple times for me to open it. when I did she then grabbed for the lemonade and again was shouting "egg." realization dawned and she got her glass of lemonade.

drama QUEEN
the other night i put Adler in bed as it was time and she was crying. I thought i could give her a bit and read Rigby her storybooks then if she was still crying i would go back and get her to snuggle for a bit on the couch. well this plan failed miserably. I was trying to read to Rigby and i could hear Adler get louder and louder and more frantic. then i started to yell at Rigby to sit still and pay attention so i could read faster and get to Adler. Not Rigby's fault at all but she got an ear full. then daddy opened Adler's door to see that in the time it took her to get REALLY worked up she had made herself sick. she vomited all over the bed and floor. then when i picked her up she got sick two more times on the floor before i could get her to the bathroom sink where she got sick a few more times. i think once she got to that point her stomach had decided it was going to flip inside out even if she was willing to calm down. by now Rigby is all up in arms because i had to ditch her and the story books to go clean up the mess. 1st clean up Adler and sit her on the couch and daddy tried to get her to eat a squeeze to put something in her belly so she would not be up all night due to hunger. then clean floor, bathroom, carpet, lastly was the bed. well OMG i am normally very good when i clean poop or upchuck but this was extra pungent and had me gagging the whole time. so by now there are NO happy campers in our house. boo hoo!!! Adler did go to bed smoothly after everything was cleaned, replaced, and febreezed. not a peep out of her. daddy when to bed. i was still doing laundry and felt like that stench had permeated my pores/nose/something as i could not kick it. gag!! by now Rigby is up knocking on her door begging me to sleep with her. so i gave in and crawled in bed with her. she was out in a matter of minutes i thought about going bake to my bed...but i did not want her waking up and freaking out why i was not there. that would just wake me up anyhow so better to stay where i was. THESE GIRLS!!!!!!!!!

nightmares?!?!?!?!
This morning at about 3a Adler started fussing. so i got up and picked her up then she very clearly was shouting at me "shoes, SHOES!!" so think i asked if she wanted shoes and she just stuck her thumb in her mouth and shook her head at me. then i took her out and sat on the couch holding her and then she started whaling and between crying would cry out "shoes." i was not about to go and get a pair and try to put them on her...as she is very opinionated and i am sure they would have been the wrong pair and that could have in-sighted more hysterics. so i just held her and talked with her. she finally calmed down but did not go back to sleep. we got to see daddy get up and have breakfast then she decided she wanted to snuggle with him for awhile. i had to pry her out of his arms when it was time to put on his shoes. she would not go back to her bed. but i was able to convince her to come to bed with me. again she did not go right back to sleep she laid there and flipped and flopped for awhile before i could hear her breathing become heavier.

here i come daddy
this weekend we bought a bunch of ferns to put around the trees in the front of the house. the grass just does not want to take and daddy is tired of mowing around the trees. so plants it is! i love the look. we went out early Sunday morning when the traffic was low but since we were right there by the road one or the other of us was normally with the girls. Rigby helped dig a LITTLE bit and when the ferns were all in it was time to water. daddy gave Rigby two big buckets for her to fill up. Alder then got a little gallon ice cream container to fill up and help water. i was sitting on my rump in the driveway picking out the weeds of the round-a-bout. Adler would get an inch or so in her bucket then walk as quickly as she could to the front where daddy was to water the new plants. the whole time she would shout out "here i come, daddy." it was the cutest thing. she would say it over and over. then daddy would help her dump what she had not sloshed out on her feet onto the plants and send her back to Rigby to get more water. she was so cute but after a few of these trips i guess the bucket was getting heavy as she was no longer holding it out in front of her as she scurried. now the ice cream pail handle was slung over her shoulder like a pocketbook as she trudged along but still kept up the announcement "here i come, daddy."

ingenious
i think Adler is completely ingenious. you are all aware of Adler's shoe obsession by now. this past weekend she wanted to wear a pair of her sisters crocs. these shoes are still about 2 sizes to big for Rigby so on Adler they are like wearing my shoes (which she does.) well this particular pair were mary janes that have the strap fit to go across the top of your foot. well my friend Katie was over and we were hanging out and chatting it up and i just looked down to realize what exactly Adler had done. she had taken those mary janes and pushed the strap back behind her heel to make them 'fit' her. i thought this was amazing for a 1 1/2 year old to figure out. no one else seemed as amazed as myself but whatever, i was very proud of my little baby to figure out a fix so she could get what she wanted....to wear sissy shoes.

homeless lady
Adler has created a new game she likes to play by herself. i call it homeless lady. she gets her shopping cart and fills it up with every toy, bag, ball, and pocketbook she can get her hands on. then she just likes to push it around the house. if the cart falls over and empties its contents she cries and whines till i come and help her very tediously repack/pile all her toys back in and she wheels them around some more till the next catastrophe. it makes her happy and me laugh.

best part of waking up
the best part of waking up the last few days is that Miss Alder is letting me bring her to my bed. she is still waking up WAY TOO EARLY. she gets up somewhere between 4:30a and 5:30a. i get to bring her to bed and we snuggle sometimes she falls back asleep and sometimes we just lay there and cuddle and spend time one on one. then when it is time to move and get up we tickle or poke bellies and start the day off laughing and giggling.

sneaky
this has happen two times now...i am in the shower lathering up and put my head back to rinse out the suds and when i look back down there is Adler. standing in the shower with me fully clothed stomping in the water. i then try to block as much water as i can to get her out of the shower or at least sit on the ledge where i can get her on the other side of the shower curtain so she is not a complete sopping mess. she is a sneaky one.

zoo
Adler loves the animals at the zoo as long as they are not going to touch her. when it got to be our turn to feed the giraffe she was very content with daddy holding her close, but did not want to hold the kale so that the giraffe would touch her. with as much bravado and moxie this girl has it always kills me when you see her flinch at things like petting an animal. Yet another way her and her sister differ. Rigby can not wait to get her hands on the animals.

R-I-G-B-Y
We have been practicing with Rigby a lot on how to spell her name. So we sing R-I-G-B-Y (to the tune of B-I-N-G-O.) well last night i heard Adler spelling Rigby out very clearly. obviously she does not know what she is spelling but i was amazed!!!

mother of the year - nominee
Last night i put Adler to bed at her usual time (7:30/8pm-ish.) she gave out kisses and waved good-bye (aka. good night.) i laid her down and about 15-20 minutes later she started fussing. i though it was because she heard us all talking and the TV on. as this has happen before, she really did not want to leave and go to bed early. so i let her fuss it out and hope she would go to sleep. it was only about a 2 minute fuss and that is nothing for her. i had a headache so i went on to bed soon after she went back to sleep. then she started crying and fussing at 11p. so she had only been down about 3 hours and this is unlike her. so i gave her 2-3 mins to see if she would go back to sleep. although she was only halfheartedly putting up a fuss i went to check on her. we currently don't have a night light in her room and there was no light from the window so i stuck my hand in her crib to see if she just needed the blankies pulled up over her tush. well i touched a pile of wet blankets and recoiled in fear. i flipped on the hallway light to see what was going on. she had gotten sick in her crib (cold to touch - so must have happen after i 1st laid her down.) most of it was on her blankets and her hair. i did a quick wash job of her hair and switched out all her linens. i snuggled with her for awhile before she went back to sleep. i was no longer tired as i felt like the WORST MOM EVER because i did not check on her before going to bed and made her sleep in a pile of her own vomit for almost 3 hours. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then she was up at 3:30a i am sure this was because she was starving as she had no food left in her tummy. so i got up and she had 2 squeezes and some juice and then i was able to convince her to come to bed with me. it took her awhile to get snuggled in then again i had a hard time getting to sleep. next thing you know it is almost 7am and we should already be done with breakfast and dressed for the day and we are all still snoozing. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1,2,3
Alder can (with help) count to 10. she normally gets stuck on the number 3 and 8 and just keeps repeating them until someone 'unsticks' her.

temper
oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adler has a temper and when she does not get what she wants, watch out. she will hit and bite. the hits don't really hurt but it is the point of it so it is not condoned even in the littlest. if a person is not close she will hit inanimate objects, toys, tables, ect... this morning i told her no for some reason and she tried to bite me and i moved my hand to fast. i warn her no biting and if she did she would land herself in time out. that did not deter her as she grabbed my pants/leg and got me good. off she went to time out in her crib. she was not happy about it but that is what she gets as she knows the rules. NO BITING, NO HITTING, NO PUSHING you get where i am going here.

grow already
Adler's bangs are just long enough to constantly poke her in the eye. i try to sweep them to the side so that they are not in her face and she is not regularly looking like a total rag-a-muffin. i really don't want to cut them and make them true bangs as i have learned from Rigby the upkeep on them is a pain. I could do the cutest (unicorn) or Pebble's pony on top of her head but she only leaves it in for about 30 seconds before ripping it out. UGH!!!

a set of lungs
Adler did not want to go to bed last night. she would rather me hold her and sleep in my arms all night. which was not happening. I would love too but i need sleep too. so when i put her to bed she was not happy. she screamed, she cried, she pounded on the door and i gave in. i held her till she was almost asleep then when i laid her down she woke up and the screaming and crying started all over again. i again tried consoling her before i realized that nothing was going to help as she just wanted mommy to hold her forever. so i let her cry it out. it was a good 45 minutes before she was 100% asleep and no longer whining. it was horrible to hear breaks my heart.

mimic
Adler likes to re-peat what you say. I am constantly saying things like "Rigby, eat your breakfast" or "Chopper, quiet." Adler likes to go around and shout them out. she does use them in the correct context so she must realize what she is saying. too funny!!!

favorite hiding spot
we play hide-n-seek at our house almost every night. sometimes Adler wants in on the action sometimes she is less bothered by it. her number one hiding spot is under the kiddie table. sometimes when she wants to be alone she will crawl under the table and draw the chairs in around her. this normally involves taking a snack and possibly a drink with her. then she just hangs out there not bothering anyone and completely content.

miss manors
Adler has what i would call excellent manors for a 1 1/2 year old. she is constantly saying 'thank-you' and 'welcome.' please is a little harder to come by, but if you reminder her she will use it. she loves to greet everyone with 'good morning' or even a 'hi.' when i pick her up from school she shouts 'bye' to every one we pass. i can only pray that this continues on forever!!!

faker
she has got me a few times on this one...she will shut her finger in a book or toy and shout "ouch." of course i think her finger is stuck, to find out that she is putting her finger there and faking the ouch to see my (our) reaction. then she laughs and does it again and again.

just like sissy (part 2)
Adler also has picked up some good habits from watching Rigby. She LOVES [the idea of] brushing her teeth. we have set her up with her own toothbrush and she tries hard to scrub some of those pearly whites. she also totally understands the concept of using the restroom. she always wants to go potty on the big potty. so far we have only had one success but she knows what is suppose to happen and that you go, wipe, flush, and then wash. so when she finally is able to recognize the sensation it will only be a few short days before she has it MASTERED.

just like sissy
Adler has picked up some habits from her sister. before she could speak Adler never had an issue with warm food but now that she can pipe up she has taken on the word "hot" and everything is too hot including things like fruit loops!?!@?!?!?! also like Rigby she has now picked up the word "gimmie" if she wants anything now it is "gimmie." we try hard to break this but she thinks she is oh so funny and that only perpetuates the use of it. ugh!!!!!!!!!!

snot trail
unfortunately Adler still has a very runny nose. she will sometimes tell you "nose," meaning she needs her nose wiped. most the time though she will just come up to you and it will seem like she is loving on you but really she is wiping her nose on my pants. she has obliterated two pairs of pants this week so that i had to change before we left the house.

middle of the night
we were on such a roll there for awhile. Alder was sleeping all night it was GLORIOUS. the last two nights she has woke up at 3am wide awake. she is super fussy and really does not want anything or comforted so this is the worst. after about 45 minutes of watching tv i convince her to go back to bed. at this time she does not want to go to her bed, she wants to go to mommies bed. which i am fine with if i can just get back to sleep for a few hours. ugh. again the last two days we wake up along with Rigby all about the same time 6:30a which right before the alarm goes off. so everyone wakes up on their own and that makes for a much happier household. the girls go in Rigby's room and play with the weebles while i take my shower.

extra help
i guess you could call us a close family as we don't close bathroom doors (even when we should.) Alder likes to help in the action when Rigby or i go potty. this morning she was a little aggressive with Rigby. Rigby was taking her morning pee and i had just gotten out of the shower and was toweling off. Adler almost pushed Rigby off the potty to "see what she was doing." then after Rigby wiped and flushed. Adler had to be the one to shut the lid. then while Rigby was pulling up her panties it must have been taking too long as Adler started helping her pull up her shorts. it was very funny to me. Alder is just trying to help out but it was a little more than Rigby could deal with first thing in the morning. ahhhh sisterly love.

mindless munching
for awhile there Adler was not really eating solids. i am pretty sure with the constant draining of the post-nasal drip she was not hungry or did not want to try to swallow chunks of food. Mostly she was consuming yogurts and squeezes, neither of those bad but i feel like she needed more in her tummy to keep her full. still at breakfast (yesterday and today) she nibbled on some cereal and cheese crackers but did not really put enough in her tummy. so i let both girls take their snack cups in the car ride with them to school. they were filled with a smorgasbord of things, which includes but not limited to: chocolate cheerios, lucky charms, goldfish, chz nips, mini pb sandwich crackers, and raisin brand. i cant remember if there was anything else in there or not. Adler totally finished hers (well that is what she did not spill in her chair/floor.) we picked up all the mess and through it out in the grass when we got to school -- for the birds. ;) Rigby has a little left over that i will have to hide for the trip home. i felt much better that i know that she has more in her tummy than just semi-solids swishing around in that Buddha belly.
no med change
per doctor any antibiotic can induce the diaper rash so we just got a script for a diaper cream. so we are back to dosing her with the meds to try to get rid of the infection/snotty nose.

red and raised
Adler got meds for her ear infection and i think they have in turn ruined our weekend. she is still snotty so the meds did not address that but they have turned all her food into very loose stools and inflamed a HORRIBLE diaper rash. OMG! it makes me want to cry when i see it and it is not on my body. we got out all of Rigby's old training panties which are 100% cotton and very loose on Adler and we let her roam around in them all weekend (around the house.) so it was like wearing old school diapers as she would poop/shart all the time so i was constantly rinsing the panties out in the potty or soaking them in a bleach bath. we only had one true accident where the contents fell out on the floor and Rigby was the first to spot them and let us know right away. we have been using hydrocortisone and powder trying to keep her dry. we stopped the medicine yesterday which is a shame because i know she is not really over whatever it was because she is still snotty and coughing but the side effects are making her miserable.

bad Chopper
at 4am Adler started crying so daddy brought her to me in mommy/daddy bed. i can pretty much bet she woke because she was cold. her little toes were popsicles. so we snuggled in and got a few more hours of sleep. when we woke we went out to the couch and turn on the news and get the day started. i did not realize that Chopper was out of his cage and came right up onto the couch with me. so i started petting him. Adler was on the floor by the coffee table playing with an Elmo CD player. it is not loud and she was kind of bee-boppin' her head but not really moving. when i went to get up and push Chopper away from her, as i knew he could not be left out if i did not directly have my hands on him. he pushed past me and nipped at Adler's foot. she had not looked at him, talked to him, or moved towards him, so there was no threat real or perceived. so that meany was biting just to show dominance. well all it did was get him kicked outside. Adler did not immediately start crying. so i don't think it hurt that much, more of the shock of the situation. i know he got her foot as i saw it, but there was only the tiniest of red marks so i don't think it was too involved.

wake-a, wake-a
although i still saw 5:30a, thank you Rigby, Adler did not. this is super rare. I think she has slept in past 5:30a about 5 times in the past year. i would have loved to let her sleep till she woke on her own, but we are on a schedule in the mornings and if we deviate too much it will be mass hysteria. she did want to love/cuddle/snuggle = my favorite, after she woke up. so we did for about 10 minutes before she was ready to play. starting to play induced a coughing fit, which triggered the gagging and evacuation of the post nasal drip. mommy is on her 3rd outfit today :( after a random breakfast and shots of medicine and Tylenol we were off to school.

heaves
Adler slept all night, YEA!! she was still up at 5:30a this child is an early riser no matter how much i beg or plead. after getting her out of her crib she started coughing and i guess that post nasal drip got her as she started dry heaving because she had not eaten or drank since dinner the night before, even then she barely touched her food. i felt so very bad for her as she was trying to get sick and get it out and nothing would materialize. boo hoo. i did get her to suck down two squeezes so i could get her medicine (must be taken with food) in her.

nothing to help the cough
Daddy took Adler to the doctor and come to find out she has an ear infection. with total blockage on one side. i just say her rubbing her ear for the 1st time this morning. it was the snotty nose and hacking cough that made me send her to the doctor. so she got antibiotics but nothing to quell the cough as i guess it is post nasal drip inspired. i hope the medicine kicks in and helps her ASAP.
hacking cough
Adler has come back from our trip with a snotty nose. this could be from anywhere, airport, school, ect... it has now morphed into a constant running nose and a hacking cough. today daddy will be taking her to doctor as she not sleeping. she will start coughing and then wake herself up, and she will start crying and then i have to get up. i think i saw part of just about every hour last night. ugh.

water gun play
(see Rigby's blog...) there were originally only three water guns so Adler was left out of the fun. Not sure how it progressed but some how she got her hands on a gun. i am sure she probably bullied one away from Ellie. she did not have the finger strength to pull the trigger. that was until she turned the gun to look down the barrel and squeezed with both hands. DARWIN-ISM!!!! so you know what happened next, right....she shot herself right in the face. then she just laughed and then went on to keep shooting herself in the face 'cause she thought it was so funny. my children love water, and i would not have it any other way. :)

little girl
Adler liked Ellie and Ellie liked Adler. they are about the same size although they are almost 6 months apart. Adler can even say Ellie's name. sounds like "L-E" but that is pretty close. Ellie is much more reserved and quite and basically shy and Adler is almost the opposite. So i think that hampered their playtime somewhat as Ellie is not use to loud, rambunctious, and pushy kids. I guess my girls are more like me than i realize. ha ha ha.

smile
Adler was almost as bad as Rigby during the whole picture taking process. she heard something about bubbles and she starting screaming and squirming for them. mam-maw has some little tubes that she eventually gave to the girls for a few smiles. all the screaming and crying left the girls red faced so hopefully they can edit that out. Meanwhile Ethan and Ellie just sat still and waiting for the girls to get over their fits before they all looked at the camera to smile. ugh!!!

we're back
I am sure you all know that we made the trek to Jacksonville, IL to see Jason's side of the family. as a whole it was a good trip. I will try to remember the highlights and post them up here this week. Adler did lovely on the flight there. she slept in daddy's arms on the 1st flight and again in mommy's arms on the second plane. so could not have wished for anything better when it came to traveling with her on the first leg of the trip.

middle of the night
sometimes it helps to actually listen to your husband. last night daddy told me that we will have to be LEAVING the house at 3:50a. WHAT!?!?!?!?! our flight leaves at 6am and some where along the line i thought we had to leave for the airport at 6am not fly out at that time. so i have told Rigby and Adler that tonight after baths we wont be putting on our jammies. We will be putting on our clothes for the airport as mommy will be waking them up in the middle of the night when it is still dark out to go to the airport. that we will be in the air before the sunrises. right now they are both really excited, but i am taking bets that enthusiasm is not present at 3:30a when we get up. ha ha. keep your fingers crosses that everything goes smoothly and we make all our flights. see all of our Illinois family and friends soon!!!!

big girl
I guess i have been bragging on Alder recently telling her that she is getting to be such a big girl. now she will repeat "big girl" over and over. I guess she likes the sound of that.

creepy-cold-fingers
i can only assume that Adler's fingers are always cold because they are normally in her mouth. these days she likes to surprise you with them. when you take a shower she reaches in under the shower curtain to grab your toes. talk about a heart stopper!!!!!!!! that one almost sent me though the ceiling the first time that happen. or when you are sitting at the table eating dinner or putting on your mascara all the sudden these cold tiny fingers start grabbing on your toes. that is creepy, but in the shower you are definitely a little more shocked by it, i promise you.

million dollar smile
Adler has almost all of her teeth. there are a few brewing right under the surface and getting ready to pop any moment. for the most part all the front ones that you see when she smiles are in. they are perfect too, not all wonky and spaced out like Rigby's. And for all the thumb sucking that girl does you would think that she would have the jacked up grill. i know these are the baby teeth so knowing our luck Rigby's second set will be perfect and Adler will be the one with braces for years. oh well Uncle Cole and i both lived though it so will she or more likely both of them.

pool time
We went to the neighbors for some pool time and dinner for Mother's Day. this time daddy called for Adler to get a ring like sissy. she did much better this time and was not always trying to make a break for it. the water was perfect and we all got in and splashed around and enjoyed ourselves.

if it is not one it is the other
Adler seemed a little warm to me last night but when i took her temperature it was only 99.8. the doctor has previously said that is not a fever. so i did not worry. I did however give her a shot of Tylenol before bed. I was awakened by screams of "mi-mi" at 2:30a. this annoys me as that is now how Adler references me as "mi-mi" instead of "mommy" (which she can say.) this irks me as her teachers name is Mi-Mi so there should be a distinction between the teacher and your mommy. I know it is just because they sounds similar, and i don't really make a fuss about it as she is not doing it intentionally. i do remind her it is said "MOMMY" but not at 2:30a in the morning. i got a bottle and was readying it to feed her but when i picked her up she was on FIRE. i took her temp and it was 102.9. i was kind of freaking out. of course she did not want the bottle she wanted mommy to hold her and make her better. i gave her a shot of Motrin and tried to rub a cool cloth on her but she was not having that. she kept screaming "ouch" like i was hurting her, not trying to cool her. i kept placing the cloth on her and you could see as soon as i would remove it, one possibly two seconds later that she would get instant goosebumps as she was soooo hot. almost an hour later she went to bed and this morning she was back to normal (or close) temperature, but she was still under the Motrin cover. I did give her a shot of Tylenol before sending her to school. i have yet to get a call so maybe the fever broke. she did have a little bit of a snotty nose but nothing bad and i have noticed two teeth close to the surface lately. so maybe it is all teeth related as her attitude was the same as always this morning.

leg lock
If Adler wants your attention these days, good or bad, she just grabs a leg. she will do this and it pretty much renders you immobile. in the beginning it was really cute, now it is just annoying. as she will hold on and you cant continue to move or do whatever it was you were trying to do before she latched on. last night she wanted something and i was trying to clean up the dinner mess. she had already been told no for whatever it was that she thought she needed. so she bear hugged on to one of my legs and then became dead weight and i could not continuing on with what i was doing until i dealt with her. this is not just a tool she uses to try to get what she wants. she also uses it when she wants to play. she thinks it is oh so funny and throws her head back and LAUGHS.

pee-pee on the potty
last night the girls were running around the house naked while i was filling up the tub. i did not see it but i heard Adler hit something against the wall right outside the bathroom door. i think she had her clothes in one hand and tripped/slipped and did a header into the wall. she was crying and carrying on but could not or would not tell/point to what hurt. so as Rigby got into the bath i snuggled Adler. when she finally got calmed down she wanted to sit on the big girl potty. so i got out the transitional seat and plopped her up there. she was a happy camper. as i don't really trust her too much on the potty i sat on the stool and held her so she felt supported. after quite a few minutes of this i was getting tired so i plopped her in the bath. she was NOT having that. so we did a super fast wash and dry. she was still talking potty, but i needed to wash Rigby so we sat her on the frog potty. this is a kiddy potty that sits on the floor that she can get on and off of. next thing i know she is shouting potty at me...i turn around and there is pee-pee in the potty. we cheered and clapped and made a big deal out of it, although i don't really expect it becoming main stream yet. later that evening daddy and I were watching a program and Adler just sat up on the couch next to daddy telling him over and over that she pee-peed on the potty like a big girl. she was SO VERY PROUD of herself. I was proud of her too!!!!!!!!!!

already?!?!??!
i guess i should not be surprised when Adler meets or exceeds a milestone ahead of schedule as she has always been the top of her class. lately thought i have been thinking the terrible-two's have set in. OMG. it is the little things, like full blown tantrums when she does not get what she wants. this morning she wanted her juice and it was on the dinning room table where she could not reach. she was "wa-wa-waa" whining for it. I told her to ask for it and i would happily get it for her. all she had to say is 'apple juice please' these are all words in her vernacular so i was not stepping outside the box. she was just being STUBBORN (like her father :) ) and stood there and would stare me down defiantly because she was not going to give in and ask for it nicely. she continued to whine. i continued to stand there and watch her and explain that if she asked for it nicely i would of course give it to her, but i was not succumbing to the crabbiness when she could easily use her words. after about a five minute stand off she gave in and asked nicely and i handed her the juice and a giant hug. this next year is going to be a long one if this is already starting. hopefully this is over very, VERY soon.

time out
Adler is starting to grasp the concept of time-out. maybe because these days she is spending a lot of time in the chair. she frequently gets time-out for biting, hitting, pulling hair, fighting or just plain being mean. at home at least i sit her in the time-out chair and tell her she in time-out and explain to her what is wrong about it, and then i have to normally sit and watch her so she does not get up. she does NOT like this but we are past the point of having to go though the routine of her getting up and me sitting her back in the chair. she gets it and says seated although she is normally viciously babbling (i assume cursing me) the whole time.

bat-like hearing
this morning Adler and i were up first. let's correct that, Adler was up first then made mommy get up. so we were getting settled in for breakfast. She was in her high chair by the dinning room table and started shouting "phone, phone." i had to listen hard and then very, very faintly i could hear the alarm on my cell phone go off. my cell phone was in the laundry room with the door shut and inside my pocketbook under a bunch of purse 'stuff.' like i said it was very faint but she heard it. although both the girls were tested at birth and were given a perfect bill of hearing i wonder sometimes. this mornings actions just show that her hearing is fine it is her listening that needs work. believe me she is not the only Scott girl that needs help in that department. :)

just like sissy
Adler sees any of us do something she is always trying to mimic the behavior, but this is most prevalent with things Rigby does. Rigby sits on the potty so Adler now thinks she needs to sit on the potty. so with the lid down she climbs up an perches on top the potty just as happy as can be. a few days ago i wrote about how Rigby helped me with the dishes. a day or two after that we were cleaning up dinner and Adler comes into the kitchen with the stool and she too wants to help with dishes. it is super cute...but i think this is making her much older than she should be. STOP GROWING UP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hungry, hungry, hippo
We must be back in a growth cycle. Every time i turn around Adler is asking for food or drink. This morning she had THREE squeezes, almost a cup and 1/2 of dry cereal, 1/2 cup of popcorn, slice of cheese, 1/2 of mommies muffin, a container of blueberry yogart and a glass of milk. she wanted to take the last of her dry cereal with her in the car ride to school. when i place her on the other side of the baby gate at her classroom she takes off running straight to the counter where the teacher has a bowl of dry Cheerios and she starts begging for food. OMG!!! her teachers have always joked that i don't have to worry about her eating she not only eats her lunch/snack she also eats her neighbors.

bad swimmer
Adler is horrible at the pool. so bad it scares mommy and daddy both. we have a float that she sits in and and kick and maneuver around in, but Adler pushes down on one side and almost flips it. neither daddy or I are more than and arms length away from her but if she would to flip it she would be either 1.) trapped upside down or 2.) fall out completely. she does not like the life jacket either as it keeps her almost horizontal on her back. she is not keen on daddy or i holding her either. she wants to be free and that just ain't happenin'. she thinks that the pool is just a larger bathtub so she can touch everywhere and just wants to float on her belly. we are considering buying a blow up pool for the back yard for this summer so she can be free because she will be able to touch and we don't have to be so worried about her and constantly have hover.

holding out
Adler has now decided when mommy asks for a hug or a kiss that she will shake her head no then run and manically laugh. errrrr! I chase her down and pick her up and smother her in kisses if she wants them or not. She is way too young to tell me no to lovin'.

pick up
When i get to the school to pick the girls up they are normally all in the great room up front watching some cartoon. the teachers normally see and recognize me first and tell the girls "mommy's here." Adler gets up and runs to me arms wide open looking for me to pick her up and snuggle and hug on her. as soon as i take a break loving on her to say hi to Rigby and give her a hug Adler starts shouting "bye, bye" and waving to all her teachers and friends. she is so very happy but is ready to go. as we walk to her class room to get her sippy cup for the day and pick up her medicine she babbles all the way. i ask her if she had a good day and she very emphatically nods her head yes. these are the things that make me smile and tug on my heart strings!

Health Update
Adler is fine today. the only lingering issue she has is that red mark on her face that is bacteria/fungus/eczema. all the other spots have gone away with the medicine. she is over any lingering pain from yesterday. no snotty nose or cough to report either. so for the most part back to normal. i wish we could get that "thing" on her face to go 100% away though. ugh!
brush-a, brush-a
Adler sees mommy and Rigby brush their teeth every morning and night so she has decided that she wants to get in on the action too. although when she stands on the stool at the sink her (even on her tippy toes) her chin is barely high enough. so we busted out a brand new yellow toothbrush and showed her how to do it. she has already got it down and does a fair job. my little baby wants to be a big girl like sissy so much. UGH, STOP GROWING UP RIGHT NOW ADLER NICOLE SCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she also has the whole potty routine down. she knows where to go and to use paper then to wash hands. she will tell you and point out what does next while Rigby or I are going. she is really "helpful." ha ha. the up side to this is when she is ready i think it will be a super easy transition. we have tried sitting her on the potty but she freaks out a little so she is not there yet but i don't think it will be long.

no doctor
i was very worry and nervous as normally with a boo-boo or busted lip it is at MOST a 10 minute affair. this was much longer than that. i eventually brought Adler to my office and work one handed as she slept/cried on my chest. daddy picked her up and drove her home gave her some pain meds and lots of lovin'. she took a nap and was up by 1:30p. Daddy said her demeanor had totally changed and was running/walking/playing just fine. she was eating lunch, so her teeth/jaw was OK too. so it much of been the jarring of the event and really needed some pain meds as it HURT. we opted out of taking her to the doctor as she was acting fine and we already spend enough time there as is. Adler ended the call my shouting "love u" to me on the phone it made me so happy and let me know she really was ok.
school called 2x
it was over an hour and Adler could not stop crying and shaking and the school wants me to check. i went over and she did not calm down for me for a long time. i spent over an hour with her and she is still very upset SOMETHING IS WRONG. i don't know what. daddy just came and got her but the doctor cant see her till 2p. keep your fingers crossed and her in your prayers it is nothing big.
school called
the school called and said that Adler was running and fell. This in itself is not a surprise to me at all. she does this a dozen times a day at home. this time though her bottom teeth went though her top lip. this is how the administrator explained it to me. there was lots of blood and i might want to come take a look at it. OMG my stomach dropped. i picked up my keys and got to the school as fast as i could. i get there and blood is all done, crying for the most part is too. she was taking those shallow breaths and lip quivering but the big tears all gone. she did have a fat upper lip and when you flip it up you can see that the teeth did break the surface and cut the underside of the lip. yes i am sure it hurt and i wish i could stay and cuddle her all day, but it was just a busted lip she will be ok. i gave hugs and kisses and passed her back to her teacher. then the tears ensued but that would happen if i held her for 5 seconds or 5 minutes or 5 hours. so i just told her how much i love her and walked away. she was having a Popsicle and they were getting ready to go outside and play on the play ground so i am sure she will be ok in just a few minutes.

egg hunt
Adler is doing well and has not caught whatever it is that Rigby has. Adler is still battling with the fungi/bacteria/eczema on her face but other than that she is just full of piss-n-viniger. at the egg hunt daddy carried her on his shoulders almost the whole time. she pretty much ate her way though the event. she got a granola bar, then some of daddy's egg omelet, drank a bottle of water then later got a sucker at one of the games. so she was a happy camper with just shoveling the food in her face. we tried to get her to go on the Ferris wheel with sister (it was all caged in so she balked at the doorway.) then again we tried to get her to go into the bounce house and she wanted no part of taking off her shoes. so she pretty much just walked around and hung out with daddy while Rigby and i waited in lines for her to try out the rides. Adler also got a little face paint. she did well sitting still for that, i think she might have thought it was make up. when it came time for eggs there was no area designated for her age group as i guess the candy in side the eggs was deemed too small. so we let her stand behind sissy and be a part of the 2 minute chaos in her age group. although she did not get to pick up a single egg.

biter
OH.MY.GOODNESS. Adler is a biter. she has been sent home at least 3 times this week with write ups for biting. She bites a kid then said kid normally bites her back. she has big ole bruises on her arms. when the school called for the 1st time yesterday (see Rigby's email about 2nd call) it was about our little mountain climber fell and skinned the side of her head. it was a head wound so they had to call but it only took off the 1st layer of skin and no blood. while i had the director on the phone i asked about the biting. she said it was just a phase and that as quickly as she started it she will stop it. so there is nothing you can really do but be consistent and say "no biting, biting hurts." I know that at some schools if the biting gets bad that they will be kicked out so i asked about that and that is not a worry as it is just something that the kids do at that age. she is not malicious in doing it that is just how she is expressing herself at this time.

stand up
oh my Adler has gotten to the 'stand-on-everything' stage. this morning alone she stood up on the toilet seat, the easy chair, the coffee table, and a box of diapers. she got a spanking and two time outs but none of this phased her. she would cry at the initial punishment but 10 seconds later she was fine and 30 seconds later she was up and pushing those boundaries and smiling defiantly at me. this girl is going to be my wild child and the one that is constantly pushing our buttons and rebelling.

another bad habbit
again today Adler woke up and was crying at 4am. i tried giving her a bottle and she did not want it. i could not lay her back down as she just started crying/fussing again. so i took her into bed with me and we snuggled. UH OH!!! that is two days in a row, that is a pattern, that is going to get me in trouble!!!! the thing is from 4a-6a is the hardest part of the night/morning for me to wake up and function. that is just when i am trying to squeeze out the last bit of sleep and Adler refuses to let me get any sleep and it kills me!!!!

face - off
Well we have been putting ointment on Adler's face since last friday. the wounds on her face have begun to heal and go away so maybe it was just super sever eczema. there are still red spots so there is no quitting the medicine anytime soon but at least we can see progress and that calms my nerves.

eyes, ears, mouth and nose
Adler knows her body parts. She likes to point them out on you better than herself as it is easier when she is looking at you to point to your eyes. when you ask where her ears are she grabs both of them and tries to make them flap. that is because that is what mommy does to her. :) her favorite is eyes or teeth. she loves pointing to your teeth and shove her finger in your mouth. yuck. belly buttons are a favorite too yours or hers she is very proud of it.

expecting a miracle
I know that it is totally unrealistic to think that after i put the cream on Adler's face before bed that this morning she would wake up and the lesions on her face would be gone, but i was. there appears to be no difference i continued the course put on more ointment and gave another dose of the antibiotic. I took the ointment to school today with her so they can do an afternoon dose hoping tonight when i pick her up there is some change; a lighter, color less crusty looking, something...

face fungus
So the girls visited the doctor this morning with daddy. Rigby just for her 4 year check up and shots. Adler to get the lesions on her faced looked at. well doc thinks they are fungus. she probably got from day care. the original spot on her check is probably Eczema that is why it would be bad some days and better on others but the two eruptions closest to her nose appear to be a fungus. doctor says it is hard to tell because fungus and eczema look so similar. so we got 3 ointments and an oral medicine. So keep your fingers crossed that this gets cleared up quickly!!!
