recycle

we are a recycling family. broward county makes it so stinking easy. they have provided us a big blue barrel that we throw anything recyclable in it and they sort it so that has taken all of the actual work out of it. so we set things that are recyclable on the counter by the back door and when the pile gets big or someone is going out they take the recycling out. well Adler is now the master of recycling she sees 1-2 things on the counter she starts talking about recycling. she gets so excited. almost every morning (if we are not running late) we take out cereal boxes or yogurt containers out and throw them in the blue bin. i love that the girls want to be involved and although they don't understand the consequences of their actions yet they know that it is something we do and i hope that will continue.

disapearing diaper

Adler has a new trick. She will normally do it then show it too you. she has learned to rip her diaper off. this is not always that bad, unless there is poop in it. then that gets flung around the room. YES that did happen. I was in the bathroom and she was in the living room talking about raisins and came to me with her diaper in her hands. mess to say the least. ugh. we tried working with the potty but after she pooped in all the training panties we had gave up for the day/weekend. she is not 100% there yet but i am sure it wont be long. I just wish she would leave the diaper changes up to me and keep her HANDS OFF.

WHAT DO I DO????

I know i wrote about it a little while ago, and i know it is my fault, but i need to get it corrected and i don't know how. Having to do with bringing Adler to bed with me/us. Well tried to let her cry it out a little last night hoping she would "get over it" and go back to sleep and she whaled and whaled till she vomited. so then i had to get her and bring her to bed as i did NOT have the energy to change all her linens. thankfully she did not have any on her person so we could just snuggle in and deal with the mess in the morning. i want to break this cycle (kind of) so i can get a better night sleep, but i also like having my baby there to snuggle me all night and be the 1st thing i see in the mornings.

not lookin' so good

Poor Adler she is looking ruff these days. ugh. her eczema has flared up again on her cheek. it is about the size of a silver dollar. we have been trying the creams from doc, the old ones, the new ones, Eucerin, Neosporin, whatever else we can think of but not getting any better. she has to GIANT spots on the back her her knees too. back to that face...she has a gouge taken out of her forehead at her hairline. don't know what happen, but it was over the weekend. when i pull her hair up in the Pebbles pony you can totally see it. yesterday she came home with a chunk taken out of her ear. the school or teachers did not notify me so more than likely she did it to herself and did not cry much about it. ugh. poor Brut! i just wish we could kick the eczema as it has been weeks now. i just read that it could be linked to upper respiratory infections and allergies. which i am sure Adler has one or both of as she has had a snotty nose/cough forever now. we did over the counter drugs and doctor prescribed ones to no avail. i guess it is time to go back to the doc. errrrr!!!!

sit with you

one of Adler's most used phrases these days is "sit with you." this is totally fine when we are sitting on the couch just watching some boob-tube. this is annoying when i am trying to eat dinner. Adler says this not as a question or statement but as a demand. if you tell her no or ignore her demand the melt down begins and eventually i give in as i just want the screaming/crying to end. i know this is just SPOILING HER ROTTEN but mommy has to keep her sanity at the same time.

bossy pants

Adler is definitely Miss Bossy Pants in our house. she sees you cooking in the kitchen she starts giving orders on where you have to go and eat. even if you are not ready to sit. she will just keep saying it over and over and over till you comply. she LOVES to tell Rigby what to do. "eat your cereal" "brush your teeth" "put on your shoes" ect...these are all things that she hears daddy and i say repeatedly but have to remind both the girls that they are not the boss of one another and only daddy and i can tell who to do what. it is very cute, but cant give that girl an inch!!!

drop off

FINALLY drop off at school for the last two days has been almost seamless. thankfully she has gotten to a point that i can drop her off and she does not instantly dissolve into tears. that makes it easier on BOTH of us i think.

I do it

Alder is becoming more and more independent. which is wonderful and horrible all in the same. wonderful as then i don't have to do for her, horrible as in WHERE IS MY BABY?? her newest expression of this independence is dressing herself. she does NOT have it mastered by any means but she tries and tries. she puts shirts on as pants or both legs in one hole or pulls a shirt on like a tube top. every once and awhile after a few tries she nails it. most the time she dissolves to tears and comes yelling for help. although the minute you start to help she yells that she wants to do it. i am trying to lay the clothes out to help minimize confusion and smooth the process but it is just a learning curve.

almost there

this morning (mommy had a RAGING headache and was not feeling the best) and Adler was shouting that she needed to go potty. so i told her to go get the frog (our potty chair.) she lugged it out to the living room which after the fact i thought to ask Rigby if she actually USED the frog in the middle of the night-thankfully no. Alder was on a mission. I was not to concerned as normally she says she has to go potty AFTER she already goes in her diaper. she got her jammie bottoms off and diaper off and sat down. i gave her a tissue and walked away (again not feeling well.) afterwards she was saying she went potty and when i checked there was a dribble. Rigby and i both praised her and gave giant bear hugs. if i was not 1000 shades of miserable these days we are right there and i bet if we had a whole weekend at home we could almost get this potty training thing knocked out. maybe in the next few weeks.

new phrase

Adler has come to say "oh, bob-a me-ho." i have no idea what it means. i am assuming as both of her teachers at school are Brazilian that it is some version of a Portuguese/Spanish phrase that i am sure she is probably not pronouncing correctly. it is funny. she uses it like oh my goodness.

toliet fishing

i was putting on my make up and getting ready for work. now that i have FINALLY created the fake make up for the girls Adler loves to get it out and put hers on in the bathroom along with me. i wash brushing, applying, plucking, ect...and did not really notice what Adler was really doing. I left the room to check on Rigby to make sure she was eating/getting dressed. When i walk back into the bathroom Adler had the toilet lid up and was flinging all of her make-up compacts and brushes in the toilet. gross! i had to fish them all out. lucky they are all used compacts with nail polish in their make-up reciprocals so it was not really a mess just WET.

shot time

Adler somehow got over due for her shots. We are normally excelletn on keeping/making all of the girls appointments so we dont know how this one got by us. The doc would not do them last time daddy had both the girls there as they were sick. so today was the make up day. Adler got three shots and daddy said she did not cry at all. what a big girl!!!! speaking of big girl i guess now they are providing you with some sort of prediction on

shot time

Adler somehow got over due for her shots. We are normally excellent on keeping/making all of the girls appointments so we don't know how this one got by us. The doc would not do them last time daddy had both the girls there as they were sick. so today was the make up day. Adler got three shots and daddy said she did not cry at all. what a big girl!!!! speaking of big girl, i guess now they are providing you with some sort of prediction on the growth pattern of the children. well, currently Adler is projected to be 5'6" to 5'8". So she will tower over momma. She is currently only in the 60th percentile for height and 40th percentile for weight. She is measuring in at 33 and 1/2 inches tall and 23 and 1/2 pounds.

sleeping habbits

Adler use to be the best when it came to bed time. I could just lay her down in her bed and close the doors and walk away. I am not sure how we morphed into the crazy bedtime habits we have now. i would love to roll back the clock and break these habits. i know they are as much-if not more-my fault than hers as i let her get away with it. hell i slept in Rigby's bed for over 2 years, so i don't have a good track record. these days we all go into Rigby's room and listen to stories. then i kiss and close the door on Rigby and Adler and i go back out to the living room and snuggle on the couch 'till she falls asleep in my arms. this is not so bad, it is this newer development that has me at wits end. now she will wake up anywhere between midnight and 3am and i can get up and comfort her and hold her till she goes back to sleep but the minute i lay her back down in her bed she wakes and throws a fit which include screaming and blubbering. I know this started on vacation as i was trying to keep her quite with us all crammed in one room and the rest of the family just a paper thin wall away i was trying to keep her quite so i brought her to bed with daddy and I. well now that is the only way to shut her up. the minute she lays down and feels me laying next to her she is off to la-la land. i don't know how to break this with out a lot of screaming and crying from both of us and waking up the entire house. UGH!!!

rain jacket

today when i was dropping the girls off at school i noticed the teachers were giving us weird looks. then realized that all three of us were wearing our rain jackets. at school the sun was out and not a drop of rain had fallen, but at our house when we were loading up it was pouring. so i explained this and we all had a good laugh at it. then i left and by the time i pulled up in the parking lot at my office (across the street) it was sprinkling. when i get into my office and look out the window it was a sheer downpour. ha ha ha who isn't crazy after all... THE SCOTT GIRLS!! oh by the way i noticed today that all three of us have poke-a-dot rain jackets. all different colors but dang we are cute when we are bundling up against the elements. :)

hating it

I guess it is taking Adler quite a bit to get use to her new classroom as she still bawls when i drop her off at school. today it was so bad she started crying the minute i drove in the parking lot. I know which are her new teachers and they are nice and friendly. When i pick her up at the end of the day she is all smiles and giggles. So it is just the idea of change that i guess is not sitting well with her. UGH. i feel horrible that the teachers/aids have to restrain her after i drop her off otherwise she could run out the door and follow me. as her new classroom does not have a baby gate. it breaks a mommies heart. i did stick around for a little bit but that was not helping either.

letters

Adler is about 80% on her A-B-C's. She gets most letters. Which is amazing. Rigby was no where near that when she started school after her 2nd birthday. Adler is just now approaching 2 and she has most of her letters and some numbers. So i can totally see where the school is helping both the girls.

evil

i don't know it is was that we were on vacation and away from the set schedule but Adler got into some very bad habits. she started biting, hitting, and pulling hair. this could just be more of the terrible-two's rearing their ugly little head. she is not sorry for her actions when being warned she just will give you this evil smile or maniacal laugh that is until spankings or time out show up. then she is all tears and apologies. i am hoping routine and school will help curb this immediately. i don't know if Rigby can take much more as she is normally the brunt of the violence.

no more white pants

Happy Labor Day! Adler is very scary around pools. 1.) she does not listen 2.) she wont keep her ring on 3.) she has no fear (maybe that should be number 1 4.) she is convinced that she can touch the bottoms at all time even in the 5ft. ugh!!! gives daddy and 1000 mini heart-attacks.
