just like sissy
Adler sees any of us do something she is always trying to mimic the behavior, but this is most prevalent with things Rigby does. Rigby sits on the potty so Adler now thinks she needs to sit on the potty. so with the lid down she climbs up an perches on top the potty just as happy as can be. a few days ago i wrote about how Rigby helped me with the dishes. a day or two after that we were cleaning up dinner and Adler comes into the kitchen with the stool and she too wants to help with dishes. it is super cute...but i think this is making her much older than she should be. STOP GROWING UP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hungry, hungry, hippo
We must be back in a growth cycle. Every time i turn around Adler is asking for food or drink. This morning she had THREE squeezes, almost a cup and 1/2 of dry cereal, 1/2 cup of popcorn, slice of cheese, 1/2 of mommies muffin, a container of blueberry yogart and a glass of milk. she wanted to take the last of her dry cereal with her in the car ride to school. when i place her on the other side of the baby gate at her classroom she takes off running straight to the counter where the teacher has a bowl of dry Cheerios and she starts begging for food. OMG!!! her teachers have always joked that i don't have to worry about her eating she not only eats her lunch/snack she also eats her neighbors.

bad swimmer
Adler is horrible at the pool. so bad it scares mommy and daddy both. we have a float that she sits in and and kick and maneuver around in, but Adler pushes down on one side and almost flips it. neither daddy or I are more than and arms length away from her but if she would to flip it she would be either 1.) trapped upside down or 2.) fall out completely. she does not like the life jacket either as it keeps her almost horizontal on her back. she is not keen on daddy or i holding her either. she wants to be free and that just ain't happenin'. she thinks that the pool is just a larger bathtub so she can touch everywhere and just wants to float on her belly. we are considering buying a blow up pool for the back yard for this summer so she can be free because she will be able to touch and we don't have to be so worried about her and constantly have hover.

holding out
Adler has now decided when mommy asks for a hug or a kiss that she will shake her head no then run and manically laugh. errrrr! I chase her down and pick her up and smother her in kisses if she wants them or not. She is way too young to tell me no to lovin'.

pick up
When i get to the school to pick the girls up they are normally all in the great room up front watching some cartoon. the teachers normally see and recognize me first and tell the girls "mommy's here." Adler gets up and runs to me arms wide open looking for me to pick her up and snuggle and hug on her. as soon as i take a break loving on her to say hi to Rigby and give her a hug Adler starts shouting "bye, bye" and waving to all her teachers and friends. she is so very happy but is ready to go. as we walk to her class room to get her sippy cup for the day and pick up her medicine she babbles all the way. i ask her if she had a good day and she very emphatically nods her head yes. these are the things that make me smile and tug on my heart strings!

Health Update
Adler is fine today. the only lingering issue she has is that red mark on her face that is bacteria/fungus/eczema. all the other spots have gone away with the medicine. she is over any lingering pain from yesterday. no snotty nose or cough to report either. so for the most part back to normal. i wish we could get that "thing" on her face to go 100% away though. ugh!
brush-a, brush-a
Adler sees mommy and Rigby brush their teeth every morning and night so she has decided that she wants to get in on the action too. although when she stands on the stool at the sink her (even on her tippy toes) her chin is barely high enough. so we busted out a brand new yellow toothbrush and showed her how to do it. she has already got it down and does a fair job. my little baby wants to be a big girl like sissy so much. UGH, STOP GROWING UP RIGHT NOW ADLER NICOLE SCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she also has the whole potty routine down. she knows where to go and to use paper then to wash hands. she will tell you and point out what does next while Rigby or I are going. she is really "helpful." ha ha. the up side to this is when she is ready i think it will be a super easy transition. we have tried sitting her on the potty but she freaks out a little so she is not there yet but i don't think it will be long.

no doctor
i was very worry and nervous as normally with a boo-boo or busted lip it is at MOST a 10 minute affair. this was much longer than that. i eventually brought Adler to my office and work one handed as she slept/cried on my chest. daddy picked her up and drove her home gave her some pain meds and lots of lovin'. she took a nap and was up by 1:30p. Daddy said her demeanor had totally changed and was running/walking/playing just fine. she was eating lunch, so her teeth/jaw was OK too. so it much of been the jarring of the event and really needed some pain meds as it HURT. we opted out of taking her to the doctor as she was acting fine and we already spend enough time there as is. Adler ended the call my shouting "love u" to me on the phone it made me so happy and let me know she really was ok.
school called 2x
it was over an hour and Adler could not stop crying and shaking and the school wants me to check. i went over and she did not calm down for me for a long time. i spent over an hour with her and she is still very upset SOMETHING IS WRONG. i don't know what. daddy just came and got her but the doctor cant see her till 2p. keep your fingers crossed and her in your prayers it is nothing big.
school called
the school called and said that Adler was running and fell. This in itself is not a surprise to me at all. she does this a dozen times a day at home. this time though her bottom teeth went though her top lip. this is how the administrator explained it to me. there was lots of blood and i might want to come take a look at it. OMG my stomach dropped. i picked up my keys and got to the school as fast as i could. i get there and blood is all done, crying for the most part is too. she was taking those shallow breaths and lip quivering but the big tears all gone. she did have a fat upper lip and when you flip it up you can see that the teeth did break the surface and cut the underside of the lip. yes i am sure it hurt and i wish i could stay and cuddle her all day, but it was just a busted lip she will be ok. i gave hugs and kisses and passed her back to her teacher. then the tears ensued but that would happen if i held her for 5 seconds or 5 minutes or 5 hours. so i just told her how much i love her and walked away. she was having a Popsicle and they were getting ready to go outside and play on the play ground so i am sure she will be ok in just a few minutes.

egg hunt
Adler is doing well and has not caught whatever it is that Rigby has. Adler is still battling with the fungi/bacteria/eczema on her face but other than that she is just full of piss-n-viniger. at the egg hunt daddy carried her on his shoulders almost the whole time. she pretty much ate her way though the event. she got a granola bar, then some of daddy's egg omelet, drank a bottle of water then later got a sucker at one of the games. so she was a happy camper with just shoveling the food in her face. we tried to get her to go on the Ferris wheel with sister (it was all caged in so she balked at the doorway.) then again we tried to get her to go into the bounce house and she wanted no part of taking off her shoes. so she pretty much just walked around and hung out with daddy while Rigby and i waited in lines for her to try out the rides. Adler also got a little face paint. she did well sitting still for that, i think she might have thought it was make up. when it came time for eggs there was no area designated for her age group as i guess the candy in side the eggs was deemed too small. so we let her stand behind sissy and be a part of the 2 minute chaos in her age group. although she did not get to pick up a single egg.

biter
OH.MY.GOODNESS. Adler is a biter. she has been sent home at least 3 times this week with write ups for biting. She bites a kid then said kid normally bites her back. she has big ole bruises on her arms. when the school called for the 1st time yesterday (see Rigby's email about 2nd call) it was about our little mountain climber fell and skinned the side of her head. it was a head wound so they had to call but it only took off the 1st layer of skin and no blood. while i had the director on the phone i asked about the biting. she said it was just a phase and that as quickly as she started it she will stop it. so there is nothing you can really do but be consistent and say "no biting, biting hurts." I know that at some schools if the biting gets bad that they will be kicked out so i asked about that and that is not a worry as it is just something that the kids do at that age. she is not malicious in doing it that is just how she is expressing herself at this time.

stand up
oh my Adler has gotten to the 'stand-on-everything' stage. this morning alone she stood up on the toilet seat, the easy chair, the coffee table, and a box of diapers. she got a spanking and two time outs but none of this phased her. she would cry at the initial punishment but 10 seconds later she was fine and 30 seconds later she was up and pushing those boundaries and smiling defiantly at me. this girl is going to be my wild child and the one that is constantly pushing our buttons and rebelling.

another bad habbit
again today Adler woke up and was crying at 4am. i tried giving her a bottle and she did not want it. i could not lay her back down as she just started crying/fussing again. so i took her into bed with me and we snuggled. UH OH!!! that is two days in a row, that is a pattern, that is going to get me in trouble!!!! the thing is from 4a-6a is the hardest part of the night/morning for me to wake up and function. that is just when i am trying to squeeze out the last bit of sleep and Adler refuses to let me get any sleep and it kills me!!!!

face - off
Well we have been putting ointment on Adler's face since last friday. the wounds on her face have begun to heal and go away so maybe it was just super sever eczema. there are still red spots so there is no quitting the medicine anytime soon but at least we can see progress and that calms my nerves.

eyes, ears, mouth and nose
Adler knows her body parts. She likes to point them out on you better than herself as it is easier when she is looking at you to point to your eyes. when you ask where her ears are she grabs both of them and tries to make them flap. that is because that is what mommy does to her. :) her favorite is eyes or teeth. she loves pointing to your teeth and shove her finger in your mouth. yuck. belly buttons are a favorite too yours or hers she is very proud of it.

expecting a miracle
I know that it is totally unrealistic to think that after i put the cream on Adler's face before bed that this morning she would wake up and the lesions on her face would be gone, but i was. there appears to be no difference i continued the course put on more ointment and gave another dose of the antibiotic. I took the ointment to school today with her so they can do an afternoon dose hoping tonight when i pick her up there is some change; a lighter, color less crusty looking, something...

face fungus
So the girls visited the doctor this morning with daddy. Rigby just for her 4 year check up and shots. Adler to get the lesions on her faced looked at. well doc thinks they are fungus. she probably got from day care. the original spot on her check is probably Eczema that is why it would be bad some days and better on others but the two eruptions closest to her nose appear to be a fungus. doctor says it is hard to tell because fungus and eczema look so similar. so we got 3 ointments and an oral medicine. So keep your fingers crossed that this gets cleared up quickly!!!

another mark on her face
my poor baby. I am not sure...she had what started out looking like two zits on her face, but now they are more like red raw (dry) wounds. I think it is ring worm spreading and getting worse as i cant get the jock itch cream on it without her wiping it off and into her eye which makes me very nervous. so her whole cheek is consumed with redness and scaly craters. it looks so painful and horrible. she does not seem to be in pain but her poor beautiful face is marred again. this poor sweet baby cant get a break, it really does break my heart. she has an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow and hopefully get something more concentrated or oral meds or something and a real diagnoses instead of me guessing. the thing is that some days it is bright and flaming and looks horrific and some days it is light pink and looks like it might be going away so that is why i have waited so long to go to the doctor besides the fact we have been SO MANY times already this year.

Mr Pittman
Mr Pittman was my 5th grade teacher. in grade school all the younger kids were always nervous entering into his class as he was known as a "hard" teacher. since our school was so small there was only one fifth grade so there was no option to get around having him as a teacher. I dont remember much about 5th grade but that i was a head taller than all the other kids and had a mini afro so i was teased a lot. when i graduated high school Mr. Pittman told me out of all the students he had over the years i was one of his favorites. he said this happen in the 1st week of school that year. because i was so much taller i had long legs for the little desks provided to us and i had gotten up and on my way back to my desk i lifted my leg and swung it around like i was going to straddle the desk. well i guess he saw this and thought it was oh so comical. the point to the story is that every time since then Mr Pittman always like to remind me of that story. Well Adler is just now getting to were she can sit on the stool in the bathroom that we use to stand on to wash hands. so when Adler goes to sit she does not back into the stool nope she swings her leg around to straddle the stool. it makes me laugh and reminds me of Mr Pittman and the dozens of times that he told me that story.
potty
Adler has a diaper rash on her leg and it was really started to flair up yesterday. so after a giant poo we decided to put on cotton training panties to make things more breathable. she did excellent in them and we were per playing on the floor and she starting saying "choo-choo" which is what we call the vagina in our house. then ran to the bathroom and shut the door. since we don't like when she shuts the door i got up and went after her not realizing really what she had said. i get in the bathroom and she is sadly saying "potty" as i see pee-pee on the floor. my little baby had tried to go pee pee on the potty like the big girls. i did pick her up and sit her on the potty and she did not like that at all, but she had already potty-ed so it was pointless anyhow. i took off the soiled training pantie and wiped her down. i threw the wipe in the potty and like a big girl she flushed and put the seat down. she then went over to the sink and wanted to wash hands. she knows the routine from watching Rigby and I. I think potty training Adler is going to be a breeze!!

blowing kisses
Adler has mastered blowing kisses. She mostly utilizes this skill at bed time. she will give daddy and sissy kisses while i am holding her then she starts waving bye-bye and then throws in a dozen air kisses. it is the CUTEST!!!!!!!!!

time out
Adler has been getting more and more time-outs at home. she is biting, hitting, and throwing toys. last night it was a wooden hammer at my face. i was not happy to say the least. she gets put in the rocking chair with an admonishment. i don't really make her stay in the chair for any length of time but she knows and understands she is in trouble and will sit for a minute or so before she is up and back at it. for a toddler i don't think i can expect any more.

do these shoes match my outfit??
Although Adler does like to play 'tools' with Rigby she is much more a pretty-pretty-princess type. i had her dresses in a light pink skirt, a darker shade pink shirt, and pale pink socks. i asked her to go get her shoes. well she managed to drag out about 5 pairs. each pair she had to try on (mommy put on, then take off based on her whining and crying.) she decided on a pair of kicks that were about a size and 1/2 too big. i let her wear them in the car, but when we got to school i showed her a different pair of shoes and she could not get the ones she had off fast enough. this girl is going to have a SERIOUS shoe problem. good thing that grandma and mam-maw have her well stocked. i have about close to 50 pairs of shoes in various sizes up too about a 4T. that is where the variety slims down but i still have at least 2 dozen up to a size 10.

rockin-n-rollin
When Rigby was small she got a rocking horse. it is a super nice one and she only played with a small amount. It has been in the living room in one of the back corners by the front door. well recently Adler has found it and LOVES it. she will lead you to the horse and throw her arms up wanting to be put on his back. we drag the horse to the center of the carpet so if she falls off it minimizes the collision factor. knock on wood so far she has not taken a tumble. she has learned to actually rock herself and she gets that horse movin' so that is scoots around the floor. she does need help to get on and off and this gets to be a pain in the butt when she wants on and off every 30 seconds. this has renewed Rigby's interest in the horse too. she is really too big for it but we do let her ride it. she does not stay on it long. she is doing an excellent job at waiting her turn to ride. that has impressed me...that must be something they are working on in school.
