eye update

So here is the update...which i am sure most of you saw/read on facebook. Adler had a red area on her eye Wednesday/Thursday. By Friday it was swollen she went to our regular pediatrician and was told it was a bug bite and got oral antibiotics. Saturday the eye was much more puffy so i went to a different doctor in the pediatric group. this time it was still determined a bug bite and given an eye drop to add to the oral antibiotic. Sunday still swollen but did go down a little shortly after the eye drop but no real market improvement. same stats for Monday and Tuesday as Sunday. at this point it has been 5 days on antibiotic and eye drop cocktail and still no true improvement. i was never convinced it was a bug bite but what do i know. so we went back to our pediatrician and she was leaving at lunch and i need an afternoon appointment so i saw another doctor in that office. THANKFULLY. as he diagnosed Adler with a Chalaizion. this is an infection, possibly staff infection of the eyelid. he actually flipped up the lid and looked (showed me as well) there was a white blister like formation on her eyelid. the medicines she was on were not hurting but they were not actually attacking the problem. so she was given a new antibiotic a new eye drop that has a steroid in it and as a side note a new cream for her horrible diaper rash that had developed at the same time as this 'bug bite' incident. so did not get the meds all picked up till after work yesterday. her diaper rash that has turned into a yeast infection is i would say 5% better after one treatment. I lubed her up and sent the medicated ointment to school with her. her eye is holding steady. that in itself i would call an improvement. she did have some blood tinged discharge last night. i was kind of freaking out but when we tried looking under the lid the blister-like sack was no longer visible so maybe the drugs or hot compresses that daddy was applying were working. since she was up in the middle of the night i went ahead and gave her a dose of eye drops then too. so we are doing well to stick to the schedule. i think the eye drops burn or hurt as she puts up a hell of a fight. so this morning i had to wait till i got to school so the teacher could hold her and i could put the meds in. she actually did much better. so maybe it is working or she is getting use to it. i am just thankful that she is finally making some progress in the right direction. we are in month two of 2014 and she has been to the doctor, clinic, or urgent care at minimum 6 times. not sure if i am remembering all the visits. we can NOT keep up this pace. please say an extra prayer for her to keep her HEALTHY for the rest of 2014 and beyond.
